I couldn't say for sure at this point. We did a bit of digging, plus some tree remnants that helped us get unstuck.

Could this possibly be the platform for a rumored FJ replacement?

Default Land Cruiser Prado in the Caribbean

All over the Caribbean most of the government agencies use this vehicle. At a state funeral many of the dignitaries arrived in Prados. It is a status symbol.

Close...but not quite.

I live in Kuwait. We have both here. Drastic differences between the two. They have the same skeleton and general aesthetics, but there are a few important differences. For one, GX has a 4.6 Litre V8, compared to the Prado's 4.0 Litre V6. GX has a 6 speed transmission [IIRC Prado has 5 speeds]. Interior is different in a few ways, though how much that matters goes down to the driver. I personally prefer the cupholders in the GX's centre console and the ice box under the arm-rest, both of which the Prado seems to lack.

On the flipside though, the Prado has an optional auxiliary fuel tank on the models with the spare on the back. It means the Prado has significantly more range than the GX. It's one thing I wish the GX did have.

All that being said, the Prado is still an excellent vehicle. It has almost everything that makes the GX great, has much better range, and has better offroad capability thanks to the bumper designs. I am not at all surprised that the politicians where you live use it. It's a very, very solid car and still upscale enough to be respectable, whatever the Luxury car snobs may say :P

the Diesel engine is what I would really like to have.

The prado’s are nice but they will always shadow the 200 series in luxury and status. What the prado does provide to most government agencies is a car that is comfortable enough to go to a state dinner, rugged enough to access rural areas and reliable with virtually no down time.

if I moved anywhere where else in the world other than the Us, I would probably have a Prado.

I visit Guyana, South America quite often and they have lots of Prados and GX's. There are no restrictions on what you drive even though roads are the opposite of here. I was there late May and saw GX and Prado parked next to each other didn't get a chance to take pic. Noticed same thing with other vehicles of the JDM and USDM versions, RX and Harrier saw a Windom and ES. Saw both RHD Land cruisers and USDM Spec ones. The TT V8 Diesel Land Cruiser is what I would buy if I lived there.

Default Land Cruiser Prado 150 in Saudi

I'm in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia for a few days and saw my first Land Cruiser Prado 150 - this one has TLX trim.

Later I see that they are everywhere here, but even more Land Cruiser 200's and Lexus LX570's.
