the current generation existed since 2010. which specific model year is the best to get as a used car? also for those with high mileage GX460, how's your car holding up? i know the engine is straight out of Tundra so that should be rock solid, but what about body panel, interior, etc?

Minor changes from 2010-2013, I have 2011 with 52k and no problems with it since I have had it from 44k miles.

Bought mine with 52,000 miles. Now at 62,000. A couple issues:
- bushings on the back swaybar/KDSS were clunky
- new problem: audio system automatically changes modes, magically ejects CDs, and changes channels
I kinda wish I got a 2011 instead of a 2010. These are minor problems but im sure it's solid overall. Also, on the 2010 you can only see the outside temperature in the climate screen on the nav. I think they fixed that for 2011.

As far as problems, I have 34k miles on my 2012 and have had no problems, just oil changes and tire rotations so far. I just had to replace my tires and the brakes are at 7/32 so I should get close to 50k out of them which is pretty good for a large heavy truck.

We had a 2004 GX 470. Same engine as yours, etc. We put on about 180K and had no major issues at all. When we got rid of the vehicle (to father in law) it was in need of front wheel bearings/hub assemblies. However, the motor was still strong and burned no oil. It also passed CA smog check with flying colors.
The one word of advice I will give you is to change the tranny fluid every 30K. In 2004, the tranny fluid was "lifetime". There is no such thing. If your's is lifetime too, please don't believe it. I have a good friend who is a mechanic and I hang out at his shop a lot to chat, etc. I have seen "lifetime" fluid with 30K on it and it looks/smells just like any other tranny fluid. It was his advice to change it every 30K, period. So FWIW......
