Glad to hear you are ok!!! That is crazy damage from a bird.

I am always thinking about deer or elk where I am at but can't rule out the wild turkeys now.

Got a crack on a windshield and need to replace it now. Seems like insurance is covering the whole cost including any calibrations needed, is there any good place to go in Seattle/Bellevue area? It seems Lexus dealers here refer to a 3rd party, I wish i could just replace it with the Lexus dealer...

Got my replacement molding and clips today from Bell Lexus. I used a very small pair of needle nose pliers to get the remaining bits of clip that were still stuck on. I then used some degreaser and a brush to clean the channel up. It wasn't bad, as pictured, but it needed it. I then used a hose to rinse it out with low pressure. Forgot to get an after pic though. New trim piece snapped right into place and looks great.

Looks like I'm up for another windshield replacement myself (last one was in 2017)..... a small half moon crack about 2 inches high and 6 inches long on passenger side at bottom. I have a $50 comp deductible so will do it in January. I need to make sure insurance pays for the trim pieces & clips this time

Passenger side those blue clips were all in place but the secure notches on the trim pieces were all broken off. Removing the blue clips can be kind of a pain but I found that if you break the plastic piece that sits over the head of the grommet first it usually splits the clip in half and makes it easier to remove them. The new trims pieces make a nice solid snap into place.

My divers side trim started flapping around on the highway with broken trim and clips. I knew this thread was here but ventured to get the blue clips off with out looking here and yes breaking the clips is the best way I found for removal. I used a small screwdriver and a heavy pair of pliers to break the clip away from the rivet with a few hits with the pliers.

Default How to tell if your windscreen is original factory?

The windscreen on my 2010 GX is cracked pretty bad—THANKS ROCK HAULERS FOR NOT SECURING YOUR LOAD.

Anyway, how do I tell if this windscreen is my original factory one? I don’t see and Toyota or Lexus markings. I’d rather not have to buy a non-OEM if I can help it.

Thank you. I just looked there and it’s completely devoid of any text. Must be why it cracked so easily. It’s got several chips too.

When buying my 2021 GX I contacted several auto glass shops (here in Canada) to help determine if I needed to carry glass insurance or not. All the glass shops replied that no aftermarket windshields were available and only OEM glass. But yes mine also has Lexus printed on the glass

Strange that mine doesn’t have any text at all indicating Toyota or Lexus. I’ll check again in the daylight.

Thanks for the link. Any idea if my car insurance will help out or am I on my own for the whole thing?

Frankly don’t know… I need to find out if Allstate is going to cover the plastics this go around… last replacement was 2017. I have a low $50 comp deduct since price was trivially lower from $500 or $1k I was previously carrying.

Guess I’ll check with AAA tomorrow then.

Received my parts today. I used the same part number above and @$5+ I thought I would get the bag of 10... Nope, I received one clip. I ordered a bag of 10 on EBay for less than $7.00 with free shipping
