Its a crappy design, there is like an 1/8"wide x .04" thick piece of plastic and when that gives, the bumper starts popping out. Kind of hard for a body shop to fix it unless they are good at welding polypropylene. Your almost better off replacing the whole bumper skin, but painting again, forget about it.

Default Front Bumper to Fender Connection Coming Loose

This keeps happening on my wife's GX:

I can snap it back into place but after a couple days of driving, it'll be popped out again.

Is this a common issue? Is it just a matter of replacing the plastic connector the bumper snaps into?

Default Front bumper issue. Advice needed.

So I bought this ‘12 last week for my wife. Zero issues other than the front bumper. I assume the previous owner bumped into a trailer hitch or one backed into it. There is a small crack below the front tag bracket. The problem is on both side the corners of the lower portion stick out below the headlights.

Any ideas on how to fix this? Best way to attack? I’m trying to decide if removing the headlights or inner fender is the best route to gain access.

Thank you for the info. That helps tremendously. I certainly don’t want the issue to spread so I think I’ll attack it soon. I guess I’ll try to access the upper corners from the underside. I really don’t want to pull the entire headlight.

Saw some postings about the bumper gap on GXOR.

Does replacing these pieces address issue or is the problem on the bumper cover side?

I think the problem I had was the soft plastic bumper tabs wore out after pushing it in multiple times.

Just looked at my drivers side and found this I have never bumped anything but someone could have bumped me in a parking lot.

That is an interesting tear there. Do you think it could be caused by pressure to retain bumper with the wire method? The front bumper cover does seem to be the weakest body part of the GX. A few of the '14+ off roaders on GXOR have experienced the issue as well so not isolated to 10-13.

Pic is the drivers side, I did the wire method on the passenger side and haven't done anything to drivers side.

Maybe punt and get an off road bumper?

That definitely looks like a stress tear from the wire, probably from vibration. I have a similar issue and I didn’t think about it too much, I just pulled it apart squeezed some liquid nails in there and clamped it together for a few hours...I did that a year ago. So I think if the right glue or epoxy is used it may work.

It may also be adhered to the bottom of my headlight too LOL, hopefully that don’t need replacing

OP mentioned that the wire was on the other side of the car. So unless it was pulled so tightly it caused extra strain on the other end of the bumper, I don't see how this could be due to the wire.
