Front Bumper/Fender Gap
#91
Dropped the GX at the dealership today to see what they are willing to do for a fix. Saw this while I was there, so that is 2 more in 2 trips to the same dealership. Hard to believe they have never seen this before...

Are you looking for a fix at no charge at this point?

If it it within the bumper to bumper warranty, then yes. Otherwise no. safety is not adversely affected by a small gap in the front bumper cover, its cosmetic issue, that's it.

There are design and material flaws in pretty much everything we purchase. Some come up in a short time period (under warranty and covered) and some take years to come up. We are dealing with 2010-2013 model so I think your expectations that this may be covered are going to be met with some resistance.

Don't hold your breath if out of warranty, you'll suffocate unless you put social media pressure on them, even likely then the chances are slim. This forum is hardly traffic'd in th big scheme of things we are a couple thousand active users ...

I doubt that any dealer will want to fix it for free, corporate might be willing but then others would want theirs fixed, then theres thousands bringing in their decade old vehicles.

It is funny, I got this exact part in the mail today. My 13 has this issue and when I took it apart, I saw that the retaining teeth from the black fender support were not there. The part was cheap and I’m putting it on shortly. Hope to fix it as my 13 is otherwise prestine.
Saw some postings about the bumper gap on GXOR.
Does replacing these pieces address issue or is the problem on the bumper cover side?

I was informed today that they won't be doing anything to fix it. They offered to epoxy it in, which we know doesn't work.
Also, found out Jimmy Bryan owns Lexus of Winter Park so that explains a lot that happens at that dealership.

Have you tried a structural adhesive for body shops? I did last night and it seems to hold but I’ll know better once I get some time under belt. I stuffed inside of bumper and the new part it mounts to, prepped surfaces and used a structural adhesive. Seems to have a good grip so far.

do you have any before and after pics, also where do you see the weak point causing this? is it the bumper support you bought or the bumper?
