Its about 1.5” from the carpet.
I just ordered a similar part number for the USB port on eBay. I’ll post an update if it works.

Looks clean indeed, but is located much too low IMO. They should have designed it much higher up or maybe even integrate it into the rear climate control panel.

I like the OEM panel idea. I see the part is 58903-60880-c0. There is also -a0 and -e0, so I wonder if those are for other non-GX models? I know you said the harness is part of a larger harness, but does anyone know the part number for it?

Thank you! Glad I asked. I have black interior.

Edit: I ran those part numbers on Lexus, and here are the colors: -a0 Ecru, -c0 Black, -e0 Sepia.

Now we just need to figure out the part number for the wiring harness. It probably doesn't matter what vehicle the harness goes to, because I just need the connector, then I can splice the wires into + and -.

Thumbs up Thanks - I referenced this for my GX470

Thanks for all the posts and photos, everyone. This helped me tremendously when I added an outlet to my first gen.
I posted photos of my mod in the GX470 forum in the hopes it helps others, too. Thanks again!!

I'm attempting to add this as well, but I've already used the fuse the OP used for a front camera, and the only other one I can find that seems to work is the blank that's 4 above the one he used, but it's a constant on. My USB outlet has an LED ring that would always be on if I tapped power from that fuse, so that's no good. My other option is to tap into the front power outlet, but it blew its fuse as soon as I connected the two. So I guess I'm asking:

- Where else could I get power from?
- Did I connect to the front outlet incorrectly? Here's a picture - white/black stripe I assumed was negative, and green was positive?

Thanks!

I have tapped power from the socket for my wireless charging pad without any problem. You could use a multi-meter to verify which one is the ground. I couldn’t remember off hand which one is ground. You may want to check your USB that you want to add has any short circuit.

White with black tracer has been ground on every Toyota I've ever worked on but its always good practice to check. Would also be in the FSM, link in the sticky section.

you could also do something like a fuse tap. it allows you to do 2 fuses in one spot. as long as your 2nd circuit is fewer amps than the main
**this is a random one on amazon not one necessarily meant for the vehicle

Interesting, I never heard a wire stripe called a “tracer” Where did that come from?

"tracer" is from my technician days (for Harley Davidson)... how they taught us at MMI for factory training

Default More power options added

Finally tackled this after adding in MTS.
Here are the items I added for more power options:
1) 2x 2.1Amp USB ports with a Voltage output reading to the left of the steering wheel.
2) 2x QC 3Amp ports behind the glove box along with a 12V outlet pulled from a 99 4Runner in a salvage yard.
3) 2x 12v outlets in 2nd row center console along with 2x 2.1Amp USB ports.
4) Ran additional wiring down passenger side foot scuff plates to add a 12v outlet in the rear later.
5) Used an add-a-fuse circuit tapped into the fuse box under the drivers side, all with 14gauge wire to all outlets/ pigtails for usb harness ports.

They will not all be used at once, so they are only fused to 10Amps. But I’m very happy with how they all came out, and I can monitor rig voltage now too. Also

it allowed me to get a nice quick change jaw crimper set and a lot of crimps/heat shrink to ensure a clean install.

2x 12v outlets and dual 2.1Amp USB ports.

This image was from upgrading to MTS, and prepping the glove box 12V outlet.

Of course new tools are always justified! 😀
