that looks great. I just upgraded to a gen 2 gx from my gen 1 and I have been looking for racks to support a box like your. I would love to do what you did

Default Upgrade roof rails

Hi, I'm also looking to upgrade my roof rails, would you mind sending me the parts and info?
Thanks

If anyone is interested in doing something like this, I'm happy to share all the part numbers from the JDM catalog.

Here's the parts list for the rails with the Japanese part numbers listed. They are potentially different in other countries. You can match these up with the pictures at the beginning of the thread. I'd recommend working with someone who can access the JDM catalog to confirm everything.

63460-60110 RACK ASSY, ROOF, RH
63470-60060 RACK ASSY, ROOF, LH
63493-60120 COVER, ROOF RACK LEG, REAR RH
63494-60110 COVER, ROOF RACK LEG, REAR LH
63491-60130 COVER, ROOF RACK LEG, FRONT RH
63492-60110 COVER, ROOF RACK LEG, FRONT LH
63495-60090 COVER, ROOF RACK LEG, CENTER RH
63496-60090 COVER, ROOF RACK LEG, CENTER LH
63230-42010 BOLT ASSY, REMOVABLE ROOF (qty=8)
75563-60030 RETAINER, ROOF DRIP SIDE FINISH MOULDING, NO.1
75564-60050 RETAINER, ROOF DRIP SIDE FINISH MOULDING, NO.2
63437-60020 SEAL, ROOF CARRIER (qty=8)

I ordered these cushions, but it turns out they come with the rack assembly and aren't needed.
63484-60110 CUSHION, ROOF RACK LEG, CENTER RH
63485-60120 CUSHION, ROOF RACK LEG, CENTER LH
63486-60140 CUSHION, ROOF RACK LEG, FRONT RH
63487-60120 CUSHION, ROOF RACK LEG, FRONT LH
63488-60120 CUSHION, ROOF RACK LEG, REAR RH
63489-60110 CUSHION, ROOF RACK LEG, REAR LH

And some other misc items.
90119-08C47 (qty =4) Bolts
91511-C0818 (qty =2) Bolts
75555-60030 Moulding Roof Drip (qty=2)
75557-60050 Moulding Roof Drip (qty=2)

Then you need your cross bars from your favorite rack vendor. I chose Thule.

Enjoy...

Jacket - thanks so much for the write up and willingness to answer a few PMs on the rail upgrade. I contacted Japan4x4 and Dave there is awesome. Parts came fairly quick and installation was a breeze. Followed your advice of applying a liberal amount of glass sealant around all the bolt seams. Now just waiting for the Thule feet to arrive

Oddly my 90119-08C47 (qty =4) Bolts did not come with rubber washers so I reused the ones from the original rail. My rail sections did have the 63437-60020 SEAL, ROOF CARRIER (qty=8) already installed.

And for anyone interested, I can confirm (at least for me) the fit on a 2016 GX460.

Default Warning - you can get these parts in the u.s.

Well, please take it from me and don't learn the hard way. These racks/parts are THE SAME as were on the GX470 (prior version) and should be readily available from any Lexus dealer using the part numbers listed in the earlier posts.

I ordered these from Japan at a total cost of nearly $900 (including shipping and exchange). The swap was easy and it's working great but I could have got these A LOT CHEAPER had I known. Boy, do I feel dumb for not checking the part numbers with Lexus before ordering them through Japan4x4.com (though Dave was really nice and helpful with the order). I have also since notified Dave at Japan4x4, so hopefully he would be honest and let future buyers know.

😫

I've been researching rack options for my 2017 GX460 and following this thread. I want to use Aero cross bars to mount a combo of Rocky Mount fork bike racks, top box and kayaks. There don't seem to be any good options for the 460 flush rails so I want to get the raised rails. According to this thread either the Toyota Prado rails will fit OR a set of older GX 470 raised rails will fit on the '17 GX460. I looked into ordering the 470 rails from Lexus and they were $750 EACH (yikes). My other option is to order the Prado Rails from either Amazon: https://tinyurl.com/ybqakae6 for $140 or Alibaba (chinese amazon-ish): https://tinyurl.com/y8ah34k3 for $30 (seems a little too cheap to be believable). The 3rd option is to pull a set of GX470 racks off one at a Junk yard (for about $125).

Can anyone confirm that the GX470 racks will definitely fit (junkyard option)? Anyone have a perspective on the Amazon or Alibaba options? Amazon seems like a good choice given easy return policy if something doesn't work.

Did you finished this project? Thinking about purchasing a hard shell roof top tent and I doubt it's going to clear the shark antenna with factory rails and cross bar.
