GX460 or QX60
Hi all,
I've had a black GX460 "on order" for over a month now. Every conceivable option and paackage. Dealer says it's landed but somehow the delivery date keeps getting pushed out. I'm getting itchy and it's caused me to start looking at some other alternatives that I hadn't first considered.
How would you compare the GX460 to the QX60? I like all the goodies, the QX seems to be a bit more modern. Doesn't have the barn door. QX is 6 cycl, GX is 8 I know. Better mileage on the QX.
Should I stick with the GX and wait it out? Or seriously consider the QX?
Also: Dealer wants $799 + unknown cost for the brake controller for the GX.
QX comes with the hitch and controller, but only 3500 lbs vs. 6500 tow capacity.

Infiniti changed the model numbers. The QX80 is similar to the LX, used to be called the QX56. The QX60 is a crossover similar to the RX.
OP, I'd just but a Prodigy or similar brake controller for ~$200. The dealer price is a screw-job and it won't perform any differently.

GX460 all the way! I have had Infinitis and Lexus in the past but after my lease on my Infiniti FX ended, got a GX460. I test drove a QX60 and it was not fun at all in my opinion. The under powered outdated VQ V6 mated to an asthmatic CVT is something you don't want. I believe the GX is the only made in Japan V8 powered mid size SUV thats available right now. I had a 2010 CVT equipped Maxima (first and last CVT car) that had its transmission replaced twice before 14K miles. GX is your best bet but the QX80 full size SUV is a great alternative.

keeping it
Thanks for the comments. I'm sticking with the GX460. No other SUV seems to be a real SUV at that size. It still hasn't been delivered, so I'm still waiting. Once I get it, I'll update everyone.

I recently spent a week with a QX60 and was very disappointed in that vehicle. The handling is numb, the powertrain is gutless, and it has terrible blind spots. Sounds like you made the right choice.
