Dashcam/Radar Detector Installations

Sorry to bump such an old post, but I just mounted my DR900S rear channel exactly like this, and within 2 days it had fallen off. Curious if your adhesive has lasted this long? I've got some foam VHB I'm going to try, but am not too optimistic right now.

Pole Position
are there any DIY to tap power for the front camera? I am thinking of getting the Garmin 65

Just an update on my part. I couldn't get any 3M tape product to keep the rear camera stuck to the rear trim. Maybe the Florida heat kills the adhesion. I ended up just hot gluing it. I don't ever plan on removing it, and the trim piece is only $70 if I need to replace it.

Just installed my Escort 9500ix with the Invisicord adapter to the rear view mirror on my 2014 GX. Thought I'd share a few more pics of how the mirror's power connector looks and is disassembled for this model year GX.
1. Remove the upper plastic cover by pinching in the top sides then pulling it down.
2. Remove the torx screw for the mirror mount.
3. With the mirror free from the mount, you can now see how the lower plastic cover is connected and therefore easily remove it without fear of breaking it.
4. Disconnect the 10 pin power connector.
5. In this case, my Invisicord has one black probe and one red probe. Insert the black probe into the top end slot for the black wire in the mirror's power connector, and the red probe into the slot for the blue wire.
6. When remounting the mirror, don't forget to put the torx screw back!

Dash cam
Anybody know anything about the "Lexus" dash cam that is sold as an accessory in Canada?
It would be interesting to know if there is an existing harness that this plugs into. Unfortunately there is no rear camera but a front camera with no wiring issues would be nice.

Meh, old and over priced.

No clue about the Lexus dash cam but it isn't very hard to install one yourself. Matter of fact I have my Street Guardian dashcam that I need to install in my GX. Just need to get around to it. Just find a 12V accessory, use a tap-a-fuse and run the wire along the side up to the windshield. Done. I hardwired my Valentine One radar detector recently by tapping into the autodimming mirror.

I'm always loathe to run things up the A pillar given the side curtain airbags.

I made my own Invisicord. Just find an old phone line and buy some male pin connectors to tap into the harness of the dimming mirror. On my '16 i think it was the black for ground and gray for accessory 12v.
