^^So it appears that your auto high beam module is the one that is making this difficult for you? How useful is that thing? If it were me I'd happily ditch that thing if it meant no cords running up my dash

Don't use it much but at same time, don't want to toss it out either. I paid for it! It's OK. My ghetto way is good enough...doesn't bother me...maybe my passenger, but wife is OK with it.

It would be interesting to know if there is an existing harness that this plugs into. Unfortunately there is no rear camera but a front camera with no wiring issues would be nice.
The Thinkware X700 dual cam setup is superior to what Lexus offers. Lexus Front $631 CDN, Thinkware X700 Dual $350 CDN (and will be on sale at times at BestBuy Canada between $200-$250).. it was just $250 a few days ago but black friday is coming up.

I posted pix of my Thinkware X550 install in this thread https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...m-install.html
Self-Installation is easy.

This setup works pretty well and is able to capture license plates from a decent distance during the day.
Ha...that is what I'm using for my front dash cam...but the old app and the newer app I am using has a problem of shutting off after a few minutes for some reason. I used it faithfully for years and now crapping out. Going to try a new dedicated one this week if I can. Didn't think to use the IP4S as a rear cam. Seems it would have the easy start on as a dedicated one. Provide some details if you can. Thanks!! (2008 GX 470)

Great info in this thread. Installed the cam in my '15 tonight using a invisicord for power.

Default Power off Review View Mirror

I had a cable in my Sienna that plugged into the back of the rear view mirror and then I could get power to the front DVR camera. Has anyone opened the cover behind the rear view mirror to get power for a camera? How does that cover open, I don't want to break it.

thx

Have you thought about Invisicord or similar without opening up mirror?

I am about to make my own invisacord as the F800 camera is power from a weird power plug (aka not usb). I think that the taps they use are the male side/pins of a d-sub connector, if that is helpful. (I do need to fully confirm this though.)

There is no need to open up the mirror... you can simply back tap into the harness

I have a 2020 and there's no plug into the mirror. Direct wire from the mirror. There's a big plastic cover where the safety cameras are and where the mirror is probably plugged in. That is the cover I want to remove, the one that covers the Safety cameras and the lane assist.

thx

Sounds like similar to the AHB mirror of past years.

Post 168... that console pops down fairly easily...although now I can't remember if you pop down from front or rear first

So I am in here testing the wires to confirm the above values and since I am red-green colorblind. I manage to short the GND (black) and Always On 12V (grey) together. Now the vehicle will not do anything. Door locks do not work, ignition button does not work, nothing. The overhead light does come on when pressed. I cannot for the life of me, find the rear view mirror in the electrical schematic to trace to see where the issue might be. I did check the fuses under the steering wheel (ECU 1 & 2, IG I, IGN) and they are all fine. I will keep searching through the electrical schematics, but does anyone have any idea where to look? It does not seem like a simple short should brick a vehicle.
thanks

Scratch that. Looks like I blew fuse "ECU B" in the engine compartment. I gotta say, the computer based service manual is way more difficult to use than the old school FJ60 paper ones. It seems like there should be a much better search function. In other news, one 10A fuse bricks the car! And the dome light 10A fuse works great as an impromptu spare.

Ha, you bricked your 460 with an overhead console short? Glad you found the problem, just surprised it is that easy to shut the GX down.
