I warned the Broomrider about the cup holder potential breakage.
She said, I know, the other day, I was placing my (rigid) drink cup in the cup holder and the only way it would go in was if I crammed it down in there hard.

Remove/Break the top sprung tab on the cupholder. By doing so, you now now longer have to have both tabs align with each other to allow a larger cup. The bottom speing tab/wing/flap has enough pressure applied to keep a larger cup secured within the cupholder.
Although, I also just gave in a super glued my center divider down to keep it from popping out every time you used a forceful measure on it.
Ironically mine broke today. Dealership says $1000 and was reluctant to order. However, given the vehicle has 26,000 miles, they sent a text saying they would order it.
I brought mine in for 45K service (Lexus certified). I showed them the cupholder and they told me that although it was an accessory and not covered under the warranty, they would replace it at no cost to me. They had to order the part and he told me it would take about 30 minutes to install. I'll give my service dept a 10 for that.

I am new here but hoping you guys can help me. I have a '14 GX and the spring bars in the cup holders have broken and rendered the cup holders useless. Lexus won't stand by the quality and denied fixing them under the certified warranty and want a grand to fix it which is absurd. I tried searching the forum with no luck to see if any of you have found a solution to this whether it be drop in cup holders, etc. Thanks in advance for any help.
I think many have the same issue. I'm a die hard fan of Toyota/Lexus products but the GX cupholders has to be some of the worst I've ever experienced. They are 10 times worse than even my plastic swings in my 911. And apparently once broken you can't really fix unless you remove the whole unit.

I'm struggling with this. I just spoke to the dealership and Lexus is offering "goodwill" and it would still be $700 out the door. They also said Lexus will only allow them to order the entire console when I was able to find the part only through a Lexus dealer online.
I wish it was a thirty dollar part. On the 2014 and later, they moved to the design with the spring arm in my picture. However, the arms are prone to breaking and don't have tension to hold a cup and therefore, according to Lexus, you have to replace the entire center console which is 1200 bucks. They're "nice" enough to knock 500 bucks off. All for a cup holder.
looks a lot like a 2013 sierra cup holder but not removable.
could prolly cut out some original plastic and put in the sierra version, like15 bucks
would need glued/double tape/somehow secured
