2011 vs 2012
Hey everybody, shopping used GX, and I notice that 2012s, compared to 2011s and 2010s, are typically listed for about $4k-$5k more, with similar mileage. And this is typically regardless of spec, 2012 base will be more expensive than a 2011 premium.
At first I thought it might be simply that the 2012s are still under 4yr warranty, but most trucks I look at are over 50k miles.
Are there any specific year-to-year differences? Any problems in the 2011s that were worked out in 2012?
Thanks!

The only difference is what the dealer is asking. You do not have to pay that price. Throw a reasonable figure at them. If they refuse, go somewhere else. That pricing structure is way wrong!

I'll keep that in mind.

It's not that uncommon to price cars that way. There is a psychological factor to owning a newer year model even if it is exactly the same as the previous year. 2010 is the first year for the new engine and body style in the GX, so there were likely a few more bugs to work out. But between 2011 and 2012, you're simply arguing for what year model your GX is when you tell your friends.
That said, I found in most instances a premium was priced higher than the base, even if it was a year older and/or had more miles. If you are seeing it differently, that's interesting, and maybe a good deal for a premium?

In my shopping and perusal over the past month or so, the premiums are priced very similarly to the base models, at least among 2010, 2011, 2012. The newer trucks, 2012, 13, 14 appear to have a bigger delta depending on options.
The added features of the premium aren't must-haves for me, but would be nice, particularly levinson. I have read some second hand shoppers looking for non-premium models due to lack of air suspension, and a perceived unreliability of the suspension components, but I haven't really seen a lot of data to back that up as a real concern. I have not come across a levinson equipped base truck, so that leads me to the premium trim.
Also I have seen a lot of cars with what appears to be aftermarket (dealer installed?) rear sear entertainment systems, on base models and premium models. The feature isn't important to me, but I don't care for aftermarket stuff so it's a little turn off.
