I did not count those who preemptively performed mods (screws, plastic before even checking)
diam and width came from the sizes and a simple calculator, i did not look up the actual specs but in my experience they are usually very close.

the 275 65 18 with no rub, maybe they havent noticed, there was a lift i didnt realize, or something else but i suspect there would be rubbing on full stock.

one person with 265 65 18 wrote that the spare would not fit, someone else thought that it wasnt positioned properly.
as a reference for the spare, one person had 265 70 17 (31.65 diam) and it fit the spare location.

i didnt find any meeting the criteria above in 255. was hoping to see 255 70 18 as it is a slight bit narrower.
Here's where I'm gonna throw a wrench in your chart.... I've owned 5 GX's. On my 2010 I had zero rub with 275/65-18 on stock wheels. On my 2014 I had a slight rub with Method Wheels (MR305 18x9 offset-18) on the same 275/65 18 Wildpeak a/t3w. Only needed to remove "the screw". On my 2020 & 2023 there is absolute ZERO rub at full turn with the same wheelset I've had on 3 different GX's. On my 2010 &2014 the KDSS lean was noticeable 60% of the time I owned both vehicles (they don't always lean). On my 2017 no KDSS Lean and zero rub. 2020 had the lean...2023, no lean. So, I can't make heads or tails from why one model rubs and others don't...on the EXACT same wheelset and tires (obviously new tires, but same model and size).

Default It fits

If anyone is wondering, 22x9.5 +20 with 285/40r22 fits just fine. No rubbing at all.

one reason for 'random appearing' rub is because in the wheel adjustment it can be moved forward and backwards. there is a range of positions where it will be aligned.

Bought the GX last week and the first thing I wanted to do was swap out the tires. Put on a set of 265/65/18 Falken Wildpeaks which I have had before and are excellent tires. No rubbing at all so far.

I've had some bronze AGP wheels in the shed from my old 4Runner. Decided to get some new tires and put em on the GX. 265/65R17. 30.6" diameter. No rubbing at all.

New guy here. Been reading for weeks about tires and wheels. I have decided that I'm going to keep it simple. (for now)
I'm going to purchase 265/60-18 stock size Falken Wildpeaks AT3W, or 265/65-18 Wildpeaks. (And put on stock wheels).
I searched and didn't get the answer to a question I'm having. My question is...
Are there pro's and cons to the two sizes, or just a "better" look going up a size? I understand about slight gas mileage differences, but is there more I'm missing? Thanks in advance, and I'm sorry if this is not the place for this question.

there are pros and cons. some apply to your specific situations and some do not.
going up a size does not look better to me, especially with those tires. its like someones trying to fill the space like a european sports car but then put on these tough looking ATs. filling the space does make sense when going with a low profile/bigger rim combo. but for any off road it defeats the design intent, this is why it doesnt look good to me.
most important for me, going up a size makes it not possible to use 2x4s for self recovery without hitting somewhere on the body.
60 vs 65 isnt really doing anything for ground clearance.
65s you might get some rub. will be very slight if you do its easily dealt with.
theres a bunch of theoreticals that differ, but in reality you wont notice. 60 gets better traction in snow. 65 has more side roll. 60s can accelerate faster. 65s can go faster. 65 can meter power transfer better. and on and on.
One potential con with 65s is if you keep the 60 spare, need to use the sparethe gears will bind due to the size difference. if you have a long highway drive home the gears wont like that. keeping a 65 spare takes care of this.
one might be SL and the other XL. Theres differing literature on this. I think the 60s are XL yet have a lower max pressure.

Wow! I truly appreciate the time you took to reply. These are all things I didn't even consider. I can't say thanks enough, I know what I'm going to do now. (stay stock size)
I really do not like the look of "stuffed" tires either, but thought maybe I didn't know what I'm talking about. You're awesome! Take care.

Thanks to everyone on this site! This tire and wheel information is a huge help, when deciding what to do. Falken Wildpeak AT3W's stock size, 265/60-18 SL. Running about 33 psi, to keep somewhat of a "cushy" stock ride. I'm so glad I didn't go E load (really wanted KO2's), or up a size or two. The ride has changed quite a bit with just the tire change. It's perfect for me, and for what I do!

Excellent explanation. This should be a mandatory read for this thread.

Any side profile shots to see the relationship between the wheels and fenders?

What center caps? Close up pics?

Any chance you could swap the tires out for and aggressive 285/60 or 275/70 for me? I really like the 57's just don't see many pics with them paired with a nice aggressive AT tire!
