That looks really good. What is ET25 and ET0? What finish were they originally?
ET refers to the offset of the wheel (how much it pokes out or in relative to the wheel hub). I will be putting 1.25" spacers (~32mm) on effectively taking the offset from ET25(mm) to ET-7. I'm gonna start one axle at a time though to make sure I don't introduce any new rubbing issues.
The Black Rhino Traverse comes in matte black or machined finish silver. I bought the matte black ones and had them refinished.
Gosh I'm trying to think of ways to get lighter wheels and tires to improve the ride while at the same time not break my bank account and you guys are going buck crazy with those huge wheels and low profile tires.
Sorry if this has been debated before but I was not able to find any info about this...
Is there anyone running 275/50r20 tires on their 20” wheels? I have only seen folks mentioned 275/55 or 285/50 but not 275/50. Is there any reason why the 275/50 tire size is not used more often? According to the tire calculator; the overall diameter of the 275/50r20 tire is almost matching the overall diameter of the stock size 265/60r18. I would think this is the ideal tire size to get when going to 20” wheels.
I need help on which tires to get for the wheels I just bought. I got the 20x9 (ET15) Black Rhino Traverse wheels. Thanks.
Finally got some new shoes on wifey's truck. Black Rhino Traverse 22x9.5J ET25 custom powdercoated Kingsport Grey with Pirelli Scorpion Zero Asimmetrico's in 275/45 I found for dirt cheap on TireRack ($145/ea!). I also ceramic coated the wheels before throwing them on. The car feels significantly better in turns - no more soft/pillow/mush feel when loading up the sidewalls. You can definitely feel more bumps in the road but that was to be expected with 22's. PSA that anyone thinking of going with 22's really needs to consider a 45 series tire, not 40 series like most have been doing. It really fills the wheel arches well and provides a lot more sidewall for bumps which will inherently be rougher with the larger/heavier wheels.
A special thanks to the Volk TE37 guys in this thread for sharing their aggressive/awesome specs which I used as a guide to help pick the right size tires (I tried match the tire sizes almost identical to those...in a 22" obviously). The only thing I need now are some SpiderTrax spacers to get closer to ET0. If this were my car, I would've gone the TE37 route, but it's not and wifey is happy so that's all that matters!
Nice. Please post pics once you get the spacers. I've got the same wheels in matte black and almost in need of new tires. How'd you score the tires so cheap?
275/55/20 KO2 on 20x9" 0mm offset RRW RR5-V with a 2" Dobinsons lift. If you're not lifted I wouldn't try this size on 0mm offset, however your +15mm will help slightly, but you may also rub the UCA with a 275.
Shows you the comparison of the stock setup to your planned 20x9" +15mm offset. The inner tire sidewall will be in almost the same location as stock. It shouldn't rub, but don't take my word for it.
Thanks @MCDavis ! Your GX looks awesome! I saw other people’s pics with 2” lift and always thought not for me (I don’t plan to take my truck off-road)... but your GX looks to be the perfect height! Now you got me thinking of getting some AT tires too and lifting my GX as well lol.
Anyways, thanks for the link. I thought our stock offset is 52? There’s a lot of folks that said they fit 285/50/20 on stock suspension and similar wheel specs as mine with no problem or very slight rub. And some have 275/55/20 on stock suspension with minor modification to liner etc? I would think 275/50/20 is even narrower and smaller overall diameter then those two sizes and would fit even better? Anyways, I’ll report back on what tire size I end up with and if they work.
