Fit Test 265-65-R18 Spare Tire
Most of us here know that 265/65/18 will NOT fit in the Spare tire spot; however, I haven't seen (or perhaps overlooked) any pics of the actual tire in the actual spot. If you're still wondering if some lubricants will help then wonder no more because it will NOT.
I have an opportunity (not by choice though) to do this test in person so here you go:
1- Original tire is 265/60/18 Michelin Latitude (brand new with about 60 miles on it)
2- New tire (1 year old with about 17K miles) is 265/65/18 Michelin Defender LTX M/S
Hitting the KDSS

Side-By-Side
Flat on the floor
Useful tools if you have more than 1 cars to maintain
NOTE: The new tire looks WIDER than the original even though they're both 265. Also, at 17k miles the Defender has more treads than the brand new original Latitude.

Are you on 265/65/18 currently?
I saw a few people reported rubbing and many said they don't have any. So maybe it's also depends on the year and/or Base/Premium/Luxury trim too?

I've had a 265/65r18 AT under there for the past few months. I believe I even posted pics...no rubbing on KDSS or anything.
Looking at your pics, the tire is not fully seated. Lower it some and push the rear side up high against the hitch, then raise it up. It will clear the swaybar then.

Also, as mentioned, the Michelin doesn't look like it was hoisted up properly. The rear needs to be lifted up and tucked in to the hitch first as you crank it up. The portion closest to the swaybar should then clear.

I tried 3 times but still no avail, providing that was all by myself. Even if removing the hitch I don't think it'll fit neither. Perhaps if lowering the PSI might help but I didn't try that.
As posted, it seems like the Defender is wider than the latitude.
Side notes: I put on 60+ of 30/70 city/hwy miles on mixed and matched tires without any problems so far.
