I guess the 34’s from my Tacoma won’t fit stock height lol! I’ll be throwing these SCS wheels on the GX with stock spec tires once I install the Volks TE37’s on my Tacoma. Hope to lift the GX sooner than later so I can run 33’s at least lol!

Got the factory 18 inch wheels powder coated and the center caps paint matched. The intent was to be pretty close to the darker color offered and I think we just about nailed it. Switched out the tires to 26/70/18 Falken Wildpeaks and made sure to do the handy dandy fender mod to prevent any rubbing which has been the case so far. All in all, I absolutely love the set up and have been very impressed with the tires. Planning on a little back county adventure this coming weekend so I am excited to throw a few mild tests at the truck. Only things left to do on the outside are the new sequential taillights (if they will ever ship!) and switching out to the 2020 front grill.
Looks great. How much did the powder coat cost you? Also, where are you getting the 2020 grill from?

I put on the 265/65/18 Nitto Ridge Grapplers last week and I love them. Great look and really solid driving dynamics ( already put about 300 highway miles on them and some extremely steep loose gravel trails). The only issue is they do rub slightly on the front fender well when turning. I was confident I’d avoid this going with the 265/65’s but oh well... going to have to find a way to push it back about an inch.

Thanks! The powder coat was a little more than I planned because it ended up being a two stage powder with a clear coat and had to color match the paint for the center caps. Ended up being 160 a wheel I think. For the grill, one of my good friends is a GM of a Lexus dealership so he is getting an OEM one for me with a very nice discount. Thought about going aftermarket but I don't think anyone is shipping right now and with the discount its quite a bit cheaper to stick with OEM.

Gx 460 with tacoma wheels
Hey, first post. I've been looking for different Toyota wheels on GXs because I'm going to be replacing tires on my wife's 2017 soon. I prefer to stick to oem wheels but have yet to find any I like besides the black TRDs / TRD pros.
Here are a few pics of my wife's 2017 GX with oem 17x7 2017 Tacoma wheels. (just for reference, not terrible, but not the look we're going for)...

Tire Decisions
I recently bought a 2018 GX and absolutely love it. The tires that came on it however are pretty terrible off-brand (Ironman?) and I'd like to replace them with something better asap. I realize there are several threads on tires for the GX. And I'm absolutely comfortable doing a bunch of research. However, all the research in the world can't explain how the tires actually ride.
At the moment I'm looking at BFG KO2s, Michelin Defenders (I think but open to any Michelin), and Falken Wildpeak AT3. Also open to any suggestions otherwise. I'd like something reasonably useful off road but 90-95% of the time these are going to be on pavement. I'm going to stick to stock size as well, I think.
The question is how do those tires ride and how loud are they? Again, open to any suggestions or thoughts.
Thanks.

Is it 100% pavement tire?
Tow at all?
Offroad at all? If so, what kind, sand, rock, gravel etc....
Worried about weight at all?
lots of great tires out there....
Michelin ltx ms2 are super lightweight and 70k mile warranty.... likely not a better road tire put there....

Great questions and thanks for helping me clarify.
Definitely not 100% pavement. I'm in Houston so mostly sand and some mud. Maybe a rocky trail around Austin once/twice a year. Nothing like a duratrac is needed.
We do tow but only the occasional u-haul.
Not too worried about weight but obviously these are thirsty beasts already.
I'd probably go with the KO2s but I'm concerned about ruining the ride and the tires being really loud on road trips.
Thanks.

As the thread I started a few below this one mentions the Falken Wildpeak AT3W's are highly recommend for being good offroad and pretty quiet on the highway. Amazon and Walmart are the best prices I have found so far.
I also have the Ironman RD tires as stock and they are not bad tires for city / highway. The reviews are pretty good when you look online. I mentioned these on a Facebook group and others run them with success. Not so great off-roading but they were not designed for this.

Yeah I didn't even know about the falken's until I started reading this forum so cheers there. The Ironman are probably fine and safe for daily driving. I would just like to make sure I've got the best shoes for a rather expensive vehicle.
