I was curious if this was going to work... welcome to the world of hub Toyota centric wheels... I've seen this exact issue happen when both 4Runner and tacoma owners tried to PC or paint a set of steelies to get a LC70 look... wouldn't fit over the hub due to the thickness of the coating...
Good to know! I called Detroit Wheel this morning and was told "Oh ya, very common issue on any coated wheel, put the lugs on and drive it home and the thin layer of coating will scrape off". I then explained that we had tried that with no luck. The tech said I could take some emery cloth and light sand the hub interface area without any worry or voiding the PVD finish warranty. I took my dremel tool with an emery cloth flap wheel and spent 30 minutes lightly sanding each hub interface. The GX is now back at Les Schwab's and I'm hoping it all goes well!

Well the light sanding of the excess coating worked and wheels mounted up with no issues. Phew!
I have done a search but not come up with an explicit answer for my question:
Does a 265/70/R17 tire (specifically a Falken Wildpeak AT/3 non-LT) fit into the spare tire spot if the OEM Class IV hitch is present?
Reply #516 to this thread said that it fits "barely" into the spare but there is no hitch.
Reply 699 shows the "barely" but there is again no hitch and I cannot tell from the pictures where the hitch would be.
I do not want to go to a Curt Class III hitch.
It looks like a 255/70/R17 does fit in the spare tire spot. That is my backup plan for tire size.....and quite a decent backup plan.

Hello, new to thread. Picked up my ‘17 gx460 late February. Hated the way the ride was so I swapped on aftermarket wheels off my 4runner for fun over the weekend and ride quality was way better! These are 17” FN wheels countersteer type X on Michelin defender ltx 265-70-17 -10mm offset, 4.75” BS FN wheels countersteer Nicer wider stance, slight rub but removed the two inner screws in the wheel well and problem solved
I bought the same rims just debating on what wheel size to get

that's about a 31.2" tire, you should be ok with that size. I have 32.6" (265/70/18) and when I was at stock height it had very little rubbing. only on full it would hit the UCA
Does anybody know the offset of the OEM 2020 GX 460 19 x 7.5 wheel that comes with the Sport Design Package? Also, is the spare tire well the same as prior years or has it been adjusted to accommodate 19-inch wheels? TIA,

Got them on. took some heating and pushing of the front liners front and back of it, but got it to clear.
I’m looking at these wheels in the same specs (18x9 ET0), but on a 265/65 tire. I’m wondering, are you using hub rings since the bore of the wheels is 112? If not, is there any vibration or anything? Also, who did you order from?
quick review of new 265/70r18 Firestone Destination A/T2 (and 275/70 r18 KO2s)
HI ALL, after LOTS of research i went with this tire and after a few 100km's i'm very pleased - so as it's a new tire i thought i would share my experiences.
For context i went from Bridgestone Lattitude Touring tire (almost new) with a 2" level on the front (and i raised th rear about .5" via the air suspension trick and a fresh alignment (all winin spec for stock with 3 degrees of caster)
I then put on LT 275/75 r18 KO2's...these were used but they balanced ok. I bought these used as although i wanted as big a tire as i could fit...but i suspected that an LT tire would weigh too much and more importantly ride a little harsher.
So first the KOs in LT275/75r18 33.2"- looked amazing! the square shoulders of the tire is a look i've always liked. But they rode quite a bit rougher. Both in terms of 'feeling' them roll and small bump impact harshness. Also noticably louder (but again i was coming from a dedicated street tire). And they were HEAVY. i think they are 58lbs comparted to around 40lbs for stock...on one hand the truck felt more planted (and it always feels planted). Even in sport i feel the truck is a bit soft...and so the weight of the tires almost seems to have keep it more planted??? However between the added 18lbs of rotating mass and the larger diameter the truck felt more sluggish. It was still daily drivable...but if i was keeping the heavy tire/size i would regear in time.
Destination A/T2 P265/70r18 32.6" - these tires seemed to have come out about a year ago if that. I read a few reviews on it but there wasnt much into out there. What i did read clearly said they are meant to be a less agressive AT tire. (their XT tires are now the more agressive AT tires (perhaps the XT tire would fall into the newer RT tire class). These were the biggest size in their P rated All - terrains (and about the biggest size in a P rated tire that have the snow flake) have a load rating of 114 (vs 116 for other P rated or 125 for LT...if you tow, etx). They are much lighter (42lbs) but have decent thread depth (12/32nds). and have a 90000km thread rating. I think they are GREAT. The truck feels super isolated and JUST AS QUIET AS STOCK - balanced very easily. I miss the look of the KO2's but that's it. I have about a 400km drive today with some mild off roading and i'll report back.

Quick question. I put 265/70/18 Wildpeaks on my '17 about a month ago and made sure to do the fender liner mod before hand to ensure no rubbing, which worked out perfectly. However, I just got around to doing an alignment and the passenger side front tire rubs pretty bad on the UCA in reverse. I am only turning the wheel maybe 50% before it starts rubbing. Before the alignment, I could crank it 100% and have zero rub. Did they mess something up with the alignment??
