What do you guys think about these tires/rims? I wasn't aware that these RIMS were made by Lexus and am wondering why the TPMS isn't included? Maybe too good of a deal? I'm expecting about $100 more to get them installed at a tire shop....

Dobinson's Lift on 17x9 VTX Wheels
Guys, I just got lifted and put on some new kicks. I waited 3 months for Dobinson's which was on backorder across North America. I also got the Dobinson's UCA's which are built with Sankei 555 ball joints. This gives you 3 degrees of forward caster giving you the clearance to avoid dreaded body mount chop. I went with Dobinson's because they have KDSS specific springs which are offset from Driver side to Passenger. I believe this compensation is the reason why I am not detecting any lean at the moment. I had to do a little plastic trimming and heat gun massaging but other than that get great clearance all around.
Wheels are VTX Wheels Stinger SL Satin Black 17x9 ET0 with conical spline lug nuts
Tires are Toyo Open County AT III Load Range C 285/70/17. Proper 33's
Ride is stock quality with bit more firmness. Tires eat potholes for lunch.
Overall very happy with how it turned out. Research pays off.

Hi All, after looking at all your great looking rig setups in this thread, I am thinking that my best option would be to buy a second set of tires/wheels to be used when I plan on doing some light offroading, e.g. at the beach or firetrails, or fulfill my fantasy of quitting life for a while and travelling across the country Otherwise, I'm happy with my current stock setup for highway cruising. I'm thinking that 17" 4runner wheels are the way to go for this second set, given how easy they seem to come by and inexpensive they seem to be, from what I see listed on ebay.
Question is, what size tire would you recommend for a 17" 4runner wheel to be used on a stock suspension setup, that would provide some ride lift, but not be big enough to cause rubbing issues?
Thanks

Did you have to do any modifications to avoid any rubbing? Was looking at keeping stock suspension also just changing out wheels/tires and this looks really sharp on the white GX.

Thanks, yes I did do some heating, molding and manipulating of the wheel well splash and front/inner part of the running board when I was previously on 275/65-18 so I don't have any issues now. I think the the truck can benefit from a lift but its a no-go from the wife at the moment.

Hi all, just installed TE37 18x9+0 in gloss black with stock Bridgestone Dueller HT 265/60/18 on stock suspension. After putting on my new shoes, I realized that I forgot to put on the TPMS sensors from the OEM wheels resulting in warning light always showing my dash. Other than that I am pretty satisfied with the look, just need some AT tires when the time comes.

How is the noise on these? I had them on a Tahoe and they were loud but that was also a 4WD SSV with minimal sound deadening. Like the aggressive look but don’t want too much noise. Had the Nitto Grappler G2 on my last truck and loved those.

Spare Wheel/Tire For 2021 GX 460
My first post here and sorry it’s a bit long... We just bought my wife a new 2021 GX 460 this past weekend. They had the exact one that she wanted except it didn’t have the dark gray metallic wheels that she preferred. Thus, the dealer agreed to swap the wheels for her. When we picked it up and got home, the next day it struck me to check to make sure that they swapped the spare wheel too. I did, and of course the spare was the original bright metallic one. I drive a Jeep Wrangler and always do a five wheel rotation, as Jeep recommends and makes since for numerous reasons. The GX 460 owners manual tire rotation instructions also show to do a five wheel rotation (it’s important for 4WD and AWD vehicles to have all wheels the same height, as close as possible). Anyway, I called the dealership and told them that I needed the spare to match the other wheels. They said that they would look into it and call me back. When they did, they told me that all GX’s come with a bright silver spare regardless of what color the others wheels are. I immediately called BS and told them that no way would Lexus expect you to do a five wheel rotation and have one different colored wheel on the ground 80% of the time. Thus, they are ordering me a fifth dark gray metallic wheel for the spare. Since they honored my request, I’m now curious if what they originally told might be true?
Does everyone have five matching wheels on their GX and do you have them do a five wheel rotation every 5,000 miles per their maintenance schedule recommendation? I’m hoping I wasn’t out of line insisting that it didn’t make since that all of the wheels and tires match when they give you a full size spare and call for rotating all five tires. Thanks in advance for your comments!

I can't speak for these newer models but my '12 has the optional Liquid Graphite finish on wheels and my spare is also Liquid Graphite.
