Starting with 2020 you can self-register new TPMS sensors without TS or any 3rd party devices.

This is a great point Acrad brings up. In my case using the Autel MX sensor I still need to use my Autel tool because the sensor needs to be programmed for frequency and vehicle make and model. If you were to get a Lexus TPMS sensor (or I imagine the TireRack sensor listed above) they are already programmed for the correct frequency/protocol and the info he posted would allow you to program the new TPMS IDs into the ECU. My wife's 19 GX does not have this ability.... but 20+ models do. So the GX can't hold two sets of wheels like most German cars, but the GX can (at least 20+ models) learn new sensors that are already programed at 315Mhz for the vehicle w/o visiting a tire shop/dealer to update the ECU.

So if you do want to swap out winter/summer wheel sets leverage the info @Acrad posted and ensure your new wheel set leverages a compatible TPMS sensor for the truck.

1. Looking at going 20x9 with +15mm offset, hoping to get flush to fender look, sound OK?

2. I've read a lot and seen a lot of 285/50/20 tires to go with the 20" wheels. So this is not even am inch overall diameter difference from stock 265/60/18, but obviously considerably wider. Do I need to stick with this max ratio, or can I go taller, like 285/55/20? That would give me 32.3" overall diameter, which is only 0.2" more than the 275/65/18 everyone seems to run without problem on stock setup. Or will the increase in width not allow be to go taller on the sidewall?

Thanks

Just bumping this question as I'm hoping to lock this down this week.

Can someone also confirm the +15 offset will sit nice and flush with the 20x9s.

Thanks

the wheels on mine are 18x9 +0 , and they are poking out ever so slightly, I think a 9” width with +15 offset will be pretty close to flush.

Default Yes they rubbed

Yes this combo rubbed. I removed the bolt, heated and pushed the plastic back and also cut part of the plastic off. Driver side rubbed more. Alignment tomorrow and will check again to see if more needs to be removed.

Hey all, one final question here (I hope). I know there has been some discussion on wheel spacers, and I understand the concerns. However, I'd like to hear from those that have used or have opinions on the ability to use very slim spacers without any issue with standard wheel studs.

Looking for possibility of adding 10mm spacers MAXIMUM without any conversion of OEM wheel studs. Is this possible? If not, is 5mm possible? Or are the standard wheel stud lengths that tight that absolutely zero spacers will be acceptable with stock wheel stud lengths?

Thanks

I ran 3mm spacers on my ND using the factory studs to clear my calipers. For me and the folks I spoken with 5mm is the max with the factory studs. It's much preferable to get a wheel with the offset you want w/o using spacers. Of course that incurs a lot more cost... but there is something about doing it right and not having to worry about it. 10mm (at least for me) would be a no go.

Good luck!

Thanks for the quick response. I agree, would not necessarily entertain it, but EVERY single wheel that I've been looking for is out of stock in the 15mm offset. Finally found a wheel I like that would be in stock in a +25mm offset, which matches the stock offset. Just was trying to push it out a little further for more of a flush look, which I assumed would be +15mm. I've seen some 22x9.5 in this thread with +25mm offset, and it doesn't look too bad, was just hoping to push out a little further for wider stance.

Really apologize for all the questions. Just trying to avoid huge issues ordering wheels/tires that will show up and not fit.

Is there any reason the UCA or stock suspension setup up front would be different from a 2016 to 2018 to 2020? I've reviewed this thread multiple times and have seen numerous 22x9.5 with +25 offset (same as stock wheel), and one even with +30mm offset. Doesn't seen like there's been any issue other than liner rubbing, which I've already done the zip tie mod and front liner pull forward mod in preparation.

When doing these mods and just looking at the UCA, it seems so close like it's going to be a problem. But again, I can't imagine my 2020 is going to be different from the 2018 and 2016s I've seen here, at least hopefully not.

Black Rhino Spear in 22

Not bad looking
I have 22” on my Tundra it rides well not harsh at all… rides as good as the 16’ GX or 02’ LX
