I used new fluid to top mine off before taking in to dealer since I have a little powertrain warranty left. They can leak a long time before catastrophic failure so you should be fine until weekend.
Got the truck back from a friend's shop. It was leaking pretty good and pink bubble gum was everywhere LOL.
While everything was out, along with the water pump and thermostat I also replaced the serpentine belt, idler pulley and the cooling fan bracket.
The belt is still in very good condition but there are some micro cracks. The idler pulley has tiny play in it and the cooling fan bracket feels a little loose when you shake it a bit.
I could still reuse them but for piece of mind, but with 46k miles, I decided to get new parts. The truck is idling very quiet now. Total of coolant use, about 1gallon.
For those that interested, here are the part number. I got the waterpump and thermostat online and other at Toyota dealer. You can get some cheaper online but I used my friend's dealer discount.

Followed it up and can't tell if it's from above the pump or behind the pump pulley. To add to further frustration, the OEM Aisin pump is around $90 online and locally it's $250. Think i'll top off the coolant reservoir tank and keep an eye on it. Fingers crossed I can get 1-3 days out of it for a replacement part to come in.
129k. Bought it with 106k in May '18. I drive around 500 miles per week for work :/ I'm hoping it'll hold for this week and I'll swap it out next weekend. Got a can of coolant and I'm gonna keep an eye on the reservoir tank.

this is all i keep seeing lately. Really turning me off this vehicle. I really wanted to avoid getting a highlander but looks like 2gr-fe has way less issues then the 1ur-fe.
It's one of those issues that seems like it could hit early like me, a longer period later or not all. I've looked at maintenance records on a lot of high mileage 460s and most don't have issue. The 5.7L (3UR-FE) track record is the same. Perhaps one wants to consider it a service item like the timing belt on the 4.7L (2UZ-FE). Mine was covered under warranty but will change myself if it happens again as water pump is pretty cheap at less than $150 OEM.
I don't think the 2gr-fe is in any of the offroad or pickup SUVs though.
I stress...."Not trying to sugar coat it at all".. at least it doesn't blow out into a breakdown leaving you stranded. One can normally plan around repair as complete failure will take time..
I’d recommend to replace the serpentine belt and thermostat too while you have them out. I replaced mine even though it was still in very good condition.

2gr has wear issues also when they get to higher milage just like any engine does.

My 2008 Sienna blew its connecting rod at 90k miles. $4500 repair bill. Want to compare that to water pump?
