Well...considering how low it was. Top it off again. Then keep monitoring. After the 2nd top off and it still goes low? Then the engine definitely has a problem.

Pressure check info:

I took the truck back to the Toyota dealership I bought it from. They did a pressure test over the weekend and found a leak from the water pump. They will be replacing it along with thermostat and drive belt. I am surprised that as large as this leak was it was not spotted on previous inspections. Hopefully this is the fix. I pick up the truck up tomorrow.

Probably should do the idler and tensioner pulleys too since there is 120K on them.
tensioner: 16620-0S010
idler: 16603-38010

good luck

So they installed a new water pump and pressure tested it over night. It failed the pressure test and the dealer said it may have been due to an air pocket ? This doesn’t sound right to me. Anyways they are testing it again now.

They are just doing a normal pressure test as far as I know. Waiting to hear back if they found any more leaks.

Ok so water pump was replaced and pressure test was good. I picked up the truck today and drove around town. When I open the hood I find this. The work was done by the best and most “OCD” mechanic at the dealership. Not very confidence inspiring but I think I’m ok. Never got hot and I don’t think I lost much coolant. I’m gonna watch this tank like a hawk for awhile 😅

In the meantime you could...? Give the engine-bay a light cleaning.

Makes it easier to spot leaks.

Default Water pump leak.... While we're in there LOL

My lift is tied up with another project so I went to my dealer for an oil change today.

Was told that my water pump is seeping. No problem, I can get my hands dirty. Figured I'd replace the idler pullies and all that good stuff since it'll all be apart.

But wait... theres more! Im currently at 91K miles. Why rip everything apart again next year to do timing belts when I can do them now

Still planning on having my lift installed later this month. Need to get cracking. At least I have a specialist that I trust that can bang this work out quick.

My trusty service advisor told me the estimated price with a laugh.... $1100 for a water pump job my ***...

Gonna be an expensive month for the GX!

Anyone else get any fun surprises lately?

I thought GX460 has timing chain - no need to replace.

DERP!

Cant believe I forgot this. My buddy said it was due at 105 but his experience was with the older GX470s. One less thing to worry about. Maybe I will order that Victory 4x4 rack after all now LOL

For that mileage , you can also do thermostat, V belt, and fan bracket.

Saw these parts listed in a previous DIY thread and will order them along with the water pump. Might do spark plugs also for kicks. Full fluid service also.

what happens to the fan bracket that it should be replaced around this mileage, or is it solely due to getting things done now instead of taking it apart again in the future?
