Default Need help-- anyone put on 285/60/18's on their GX?

So after a few weeks of researching, I've decided on swapping out the OEM Duellers for some BFG KO2's, along with some after market wheels on my 2016 GX, going from the stock 18 x 7 wheels to 18 x9 wheels.

I thought I was all set to go up a size to 275/65/18 from the stock 265/60/18, until I saw that it's possible to get a D rated 8 ply KO2 if I get it in the 285/60/18 size.

In addition, the total diameter of my stock tire now is 30.6".
With the 275/65/18, it will go up to 32" with the KO2.
With the 285/60/18, it will go up to 31.4" with the KO2, and will need wheels that are between 8-10" in width, which will work out fine based on the above.

Some here have put on the KO2's in 275/65/18 without any issues with wheel rub and not needing any mods.
In theory, with a smaller diameter of 31.4", the 285/60/18 should be ok as well, correct? Am I missing something?
The reason I want the 285's if possible is because they are offered in a D rated 8 ply tire as opposed to the 10 ply E rated for the other sizes.

When I called tire rack, they said there are other factors that could cause wheel rub besides total diameter, and therefore they couldn't tell me if the 285/60/18 would be ok.

Does anyone know the answer to this? Has anyone put 285/60/18 on their GX without mods? Thanks in advance.

Bump for the same question. I know 276/60R18 tires fit but I would love to know who has tried 285s……and see photos!

I have a 285/50/20 setup and I barely was able to tuck-in the plastic panel surround on the edge near the foot rest (both side). Before the tuck-in, when I turn my wheels and hit a bump on the road, the people on the sidewalk would jump as if there was a huge crash in front of them, LOL!

When I checked the clearance between the wheel and the area where scrapes occur, the gap was less than half an inch when the wheel is turned at 45 degrees (CCW on left wheel or CW on right wheel). BTW, I used a black zip tie to pull-in the plastic away from the wheel - giving me inch and a half of clearance.

IMHO, if you add a big and fat wheel/tire combo, you must do what other monster truck fans would do - jack up the suspension too.
