Is there anticipation that 2015 models will have airbag recalls down the road?

 

Yes, all model years through 2017.

 

Hello all - saw this from the ES forum. It's the updated notification showing the roll out of airbags. Looks like other models are now getting replaced. Just helping back up Craigyyy's info.

Is it safe to drive the GX with airbags recall?

 

I don't think anyone could say 100% but AFAIK none of the reported airbag incidents involved a GX... someone may need to confirm this but I don't think any other Lexus as well.

 

Safe to drive, yes. Passenger side is the recall.

 

this will be my excuse for my wife sitting in the back from now on until we trade in for a new vehicle. On a serious note, I wonder how deep they have to tear down the dash for this recall as we have 3 GX in our family.

 

I have an appointment scheduled for the secondary air intake extended warranty. After making the appointment I decided to call the dealer to ask if I could have this recall done at the same time. I was told they haven't received the parts yet

 

Same here. I emailed my local dealer and got the same answer that they don't have parts.
They mentioned get on the email/contact list so Lexus can notify you. How do I signup for that?

 

I called the local Lexus service manager (friend of mine) told me there's no list to sign up and the parts are not available yet and they are expecting it to be end of this year for the 2012s

Takata just filed bankruptcy. KSS may be contracted with to supply replacements.
