Taping the little bar for my swing gate has resolved my issue completely.
Symptoms sound identical - worse when warm, more over bumps, etc.
Definitely try some tape. It was a crazy easy fix that took a while to find but solved something that really was taking away from the enjoyment of my truck....

Check out this thread that also includes a pic. - https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gx-...rn-door-2.html
or this one https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gx-...row-seats.html
It's the small bar on the left side of the truck where the swingate latch hooks.
I can take a more zoomed out pic when I get home if this doesn't make sense.

So I wrapped the latch bar with a couple rolls of electrical tape, and it's definitely quieter for sure. Most of the squeak seems to be gone and the occasional knocking noise I had seems to be eliminated. There is still some, albeit, infrequent and much less loud squeaking, so I'm not sure whether I should add another wrap, or look at the seat bar in the 2nd row and wrap that as mentioned above.
Regarding that, would this be considered a fault/defect? My '14, while obviously out of its standard warranty is a CPO, and if that mechanism between the latch and the backdoor is knocking around and squeaking I would think something may be wrong with it. Any thoughts on that?

Glad to hear it helped.
My dealer wasn’t super helpful but did replace the strut thinking it was the cause. Given there are a number of us with the issue it sure seems that it’s not an isolated case. Probably not widespread enough though. Perhaps one of the others on here would be better able to comment.

New owner here (2015 GX Luxury) and noticed this annoying rear rattle. Just put some e-tape on the rear hatch u-bolt and also around the rear hatch strut on the door side. Can't give it a test drive yet, but I am hopeful. Before I put the tape on, a light tug made a similar sound to what I've been hearing - hopefully this fixes it. I checked the rear jack and it was secure as could be, already put a used bike tube around the hanging chain on the spare, and removed (temporarily) the tool kit and first aid kits just to eliminate possible other noises.
Will report back once I am able to drive the vehicle.
