What are your thoughts, good or bad? No more memory updates that require a trip to the dealer.
Personally I don't like my 2011 GX navigation system (mildly stated) that I use 1-3 times in a work day. My iPhone is much better, but I like the large screen and the ability to use the phone while viewing the map on my dash.

Really, really stupid of Toyota not to simply incorporate Android Auto and Apple Carplay like the rest of the industry. They want to retain all control over your interface so they can control the entire experience.
I have one of these headunits in my loaner Toyota and it's pretty slow. I can imagine that some phone-linked Toyota engineered nav will only be agonizingly slow. Even in the video it looks very slow.
None of their proprietary apps will ever hold a candle to Google Maps or Waze. Once Waze is available via Android Auto (supposed to hit this year), it will be very difficult to choose a Toyota or Lexus product.
I agree, the nav in our GX is pretty poor but like you said it's nice to have the large screen on the dash. I have personally never updated a nav system via any paid update, and I don't think most people have either. Waze and Google Maps are up-to-the-hour or up-to-the-minute up to date and you don't have to pay a cent.
