Funny you ask. I put it into and out of 4WL four times yesterday. I thought an actuator may be acting up, it was smooth as silk. I was on pavement so I didn't turn and didn't keep it on for long, 50 feet or so.

Maybe limit switch(s) in the transfer case actuator assembly telling car it is no longer in 4L are bad? I haven't pulled up internal schematics on this yet.

More info from your suggestion. I did the full ODB scan I got 2 codes. C1201 and C1241. Both are Chassis codes and ABS/VSC/TRAC.

Engine Control System Malfunction.

More pieces to the puzzle.

BTW, Limit switch INSIDE the transfer case scares me.

Edit: More I look into this I'm thinking battery. Pretty sure the battery is new but don't no for sure. 9/17 stamped on the side, it's a car-quest battery.

Either with tester or OBD app what are you seeing the voltage at while vehicle is running?

14.1 - 14.2 engine running. Don't forget car was sitting for 3 days when this happened. What the spec I need?

That voltage is fine. Might have just been a one off and voltage was low. It it happens again I'd probably get battery tested first.

Just a little info on L4 position switch... probably not issue since you didn't get any DTCs related to it.

Default 2014 GX460 Transfer Case Leak help

Hi, 1st time posting here, sorry if this has already been covered i didn't see an old thread. purchased a 2014 GX460 Luxury with 90k miles on it from a local Mercedes dealer 2 weeks ago. I checked thoroughly (as i could without taking skids down), and didnt see any leaks of any kind. very clean truck with all Arizona service its whole life at a local Lexus dealer. 1 thing i knew id need to take care of was the open airbag recall. I brought to a different local Lexus dealer today for the recall. Just got a text from the service advisor saying they found a transfer case leak. She says it's leaking from the transfer case input shaft seal. She says the repair would be to remove the whole transfer case and re-seal, cheap parts but 8 hours of labor for a whopping total of $1250. There is really no going back to the Mercedes dealer i purchased from, as i signed multiple as-is documents when i purchased. 2 pics from the Lexus dealer attached. Any advice? My wife is gonna flip if i tell her that her brand new truck needs over $1k in repairs

Here is another thread

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gx-...case-leak.html

I think there is some way on the 470s I've heard that this can be possibly fixed without dropping the TC. It may have been in thread linked off of this post. Not sure if anyone has attempted on the 460 though.

Brake cleaner should clean that off well. If it is an obscure leak you could use some talcum powder to help see where it is coming from.

... Gold Bond Foot Spray Powder ... easy to apply an even coat over the suspect area ... white powder turns dark at the first sign of liquid.

Well believe it or not my wifes had this exact same thing at 38k, took it to the dealer where I bought it and they fixed it for free. It did take a while to do but i will definitely be keeping an eye on it in the future.
