Default What type portable air compressor do you use?

Since GX does not have automatic display of each tire pressure, I decided to invest in a good quality portable air compressor to take it on the road with me.
I started my search on Amazon and noticed that a lot of the automatic 12V tire pumps have 15AMPS, like this one https://www.amazon.com/VIAIR-85P-Por...ords=VIAIR+85P

However, GX owner manual (page 423) says that
Center of console (12 V DC)
The power outlet can be used for 12 V accessories that run on less than 10 A.

I am concern that I may blow fuse in a car if I will plug that compressor to the car.
Do you have recommendations on which portable air compressor will be suitable for GX power output?

This is what I have:

https://www.amazon.com/Kensun-High-P...air+compressor

A bit less substantial but it does fit in the cubbie with the jack. Takes awhile to pump but it works.

Agree, it would be nice if we could get a display of each tire's pressure. Seems to be standard on most luxury cars these days, and many non-lux.

Have you thought about bypassing the factory wiring and getting something that just connects to the battery

Sorry if this doesn't answer your question, but a $2 tire pressure gauge is all you really need. I understand the convenience of having one through the brains of the car, but those aren't even that reliable. 9 times out of 10, they're still a few lbs off. If you're in an area with tire shops such as Discount Tire or even Costco, they'll fill your tires whenever you like and free of charge.

If you're just wanting one as an emergency type of deal, you really can't go wrong with anything you pick up...Even at Harbor Freight. I would recommend the air compressors at Costco for the shear fact that when it goes kaput(they all eventually do), you can have it replaced with another; no questions asked.

I don't have my spare so I keep a pump along with tire plugs in its location. If I get something in my tire I want the option to fix it if I can. I haven't seen it it a while but I remember it has the aux plug and alligator clips.

I was thinking of the battery clams one but since I might need my wife to use it in case of emergency, I would rather want to get something that is plug in style.
my current pump from Slime kicker the bucket recently after 10 years of service so I looked at Slime again only to find out that all of them are 15AMPS.
I will look into suggested options. Thank you all for replies.

I have a BMW kit I throw in the trunk on a long road trip.

Lexus has a similar one that includes compressor, tire sealant, gloves etc.

The BMW, Conti, and Lexus kits are all similar, it just comes down to preference. I like them because everything is in a neat storage case.

I leave this in my car since it can be used via the cigarette lighter or hooked up to the battery terminal.

But on road trips, I bring this along as well since you never know when you might need the extra power or options.

I hope that helps.

11GX460,
I was looking and liked Viair 85P but it is rated at 12V/15AMPS wherever mine 2017 GX460 has only 12V/10AMPS/120W. Does your Lexus have the same 12V power output as mine? If yes, do you see any problem running it?
Thanks.

I had no problems running it. In fact, I used it to add air to 4 tires recently. I simply plugged it into the cigarette light AFTER starting the GX, and leaving it running the entire time I was using the air compressor. My GX is a 2011 model. And it looks like the Inverter's AMP is 15.
