Question on maintenance interval for your 2nd vehicle
Hi guys.
I plan to use my GX460 as my daily driver and keep my GS as my secondary/weekend car.
My question is, lets say I only put 5000 miles in 2 years time frame on my secondary vehicle(GS), would I still have to take it in for routine maintenance check or just wait it out till it hits 5000 miles?
I would be driving the secondary vehicle at least once a week or once every 2 weeks to keep the fluids running.
I've had two different answers given to me(one from my friend who collects cars and is a mechanic. The other from my Lexus service advisor who recommends to bring it in at least once annually even if it doesn't hit the 5000 miles).
My friend has told me as long as I keep the car driven once every couple weeks, there is no need to get it serviced until the recommended 5000 miles.
Any feedback will be greatly appreciated.

Go with your friends advice, no need to service if you are driving it every week or so.

Mobil 1 Extended Performance synthetic oil is recommended for oil change intervals up to 15,000 miles OR ONE YEAR, whichever occurs first.
I would at least change the oil once a year per Mobil 1 recommendations................just my 2 cents.

I am in the same situation, currently the GX is driven less than 3k miles a year. You should get your oil changed every 12-18 months. For the rest of the maintenance items I would wait until their respective mileage comes on, at least that's what I do.
The 12 months recommendation comes from manufacturers assuming that you drive your vehicle short distances frequently. Otherwise the engine oil does not degrade just by sitting in the oil pan .

Alright thx NewB2Lexus for your advice. I guess 18 months is about the right number rather than stretching it to 2 years......
I appreciate everybodys' feedback.
If anybody else has any further feedback regarding your secondary/weekend car care, plz let me know.
