I saw that one on GXOR but am concerned it uses a OBD2 splitter. I wonder if this simply shuts off after the startup process? This can cause issues according to IIRC....Carista developer in thread here at CL.... and others as well I have seen online.... if you are running other devices at the same time on OBD2 bus.
cancruiser: Have you confirmed/tested your vehicle alarm to see if it goes off by opening the door inside while armed or if nothing happens with hood open as well?
O.K.. confirmed today.
While the alarm is armed, opening the hood doesn't activate it. Opening any of the doors does.
So, confirmed there is no hood switch
EDIT: I also checked 2010 and 2019 owner's manuals for US models and they state hood should set alarm off.
In my 2012 owner's manual it shows hood as being part of theft deterrent. Notice it includes the hood. Does your paper manual state hood should activate alarm?
Yes, it does state in the manual that the hood should set off the alarm, but it doesn't!
I'll check the presence of the connector on the harness and report back..
CORRECTION:
I decided to repeat the test again. Opening the hood DOES set off the alarm but in my case, I have to raise the hood enough to unlock the safety latch. Simply lifting it up a couple of inches does nothing. My apologies for the hurried test and results from last post
This still leaves me with the RES install issue. But glad to find the hood switch works (although I am unable to actually see the switch!)

In my efforts to get the RES working, one thing that I was advised to do, and already did a couple of times, was to completely reset the ECU by disconnecting the battery for approx 30 mins. I did this in two separate occasions each was approx 4 hours, not only 30 mins. I assume this should reset the ECU, however, I did notice that my seat settings and radio stations were still present after I disconnected the battery back on. Makes me wonder if this was a true reset of the ECU or are these functions served by another computer?
Yeah like downshift1 said....I believe I have read 10-13 save those settings to hard drive as well. I assume '14+ either saves them to internal memory or map SD card. Any '14+ owners with battery swap scenarios?
I bought a plug and play system from https://accessorides.com/ Which i think does not use the OBD II port but uses the ECU connector (if theres a difference?) Just search for GX remote start
Gives you options for OEM keyfob, 1-way (with OEM), and 2-way remotes (with OEM).
Used code TRDJON for $15 off.
Going to install this week.
Use the 12volt solutions install video on how to get to the connectors. Programming is similar but different.
Back to the original topic - remote start question
I am planning to get and install the remote start kit PT398-60112, are there any complications with the installation ? Missing wiring in some models, etc.
Other than 10-15 only ...it would appear Canadian vehicles are not compatible.
Perfect, thanks for the info, mine is 2015, us. Unfortunately it is not compatible with the subscription system, I have tried but its 2016 and younger vehicles.
