That's a tough gamble... do I pay about $200 til they stop Enform with the hope that they make it free? Or just spend $300 now and forget enform...

I don't recall that other unit but have heard of many successful installations of the 12Volt Solutions option

Your engine shuts off because your RES disarm input wire was not connected. All quality RES have a disarm input as well as an output wire in order to disarm your vehicle while the engine is running. The Lexus factory disarm wire is typically a light green wire located at the BECU in a white 30 pin plug, pin #24. The BECU is located to the right side of the underdash fusebox. This same light green wire will unlock your driver's door with 2 pulses. But if you are buying those "plug and play" type of RES, then you might be lacking those options.

I bought a 2014 GX Premium earlier this month. The original window sticker was in the glove box, and it lists remote start in the Premium options. The remote has 4 buttons, lock/unlock/rear window open/panic. What am I missing, does it not have remote start or is there some secret sequence on the remote to start the vehicle? Owners manual is no help on this. Thank you.

Press Lock twice, then hold Lock button for three seconds will start engine remotely, it will run for 10 mins before stop or when you unlock the door.

FYI, press lock twice within 2 seconds or it may not register.

Wonder if all Premiums have Remote Start functionality built-in, or was/is it an option ?

I believe it was an option. You can identify if the remote start is on your particular GX by looking at both driver’s and passenger,s windows, there should be a small stick that indicated remote start. Like this one:

RES and RES+ were options for 2010-2015. I installed RES in my ‘12 years back… there was also a sticker that went under the hood with the kit.

Jake posted a video over on IH8mud that his RES still keeps running when back door is opened.

I personally haven’t test mine. I don’t recall ever trying or this being expected behavior.

Does it work just like other doors on everyone else’s and kills the motor on open?
