Hi Everyone,

Two days ago the Skid, Engine and 4LO lights came on on my GX. Checked the gas cap, tighten it two clicks disconnected the battery for a few minutes and the lights went off. Today the lights came back, I did the same but this time I tighten the cap one click, reset the computer and the lights went off again. The truck seems to be fine, I realized that the cap should have been tighten one click, instead of two like I normally used to. I think the gas cap maybe bad. Is that something that can be possible? How long should I disconnect the battery for a good reset of the computer? Like always, I thank everyone here for their invaluable information and assistance.

What you are doing by disconnecting battery only erases error code until its being triggered again. Instead I would recommend that once check engine light comes on, take car to any service station that offers free code reading and have them read you an error code. Then gogle that error code and verify that a cap is what causes check engine light. If cap is bad, replacement cost is very low (usually under $20).

I couldn't find anything about trouble lights for the gas cap in the manual. I see the writing on the cap "Tighten one click or the CHECK may come on" I never noticed that.
Before heading home from a restaurant today I completely unscrewed it and drove 10 miles of side streets and 80 mph on the Hwy with no trouble lights.

Thanks for the replies, I purchased a CodeReader scanner so the next time it happens I'll check what kind of error it is and take it from there.

Hmm, wouldn't be surprised if it is the infamous secondary air injection pump and valves. Hope it's not that.

So far after tightening the gas cap one click only the lights haven't come on yet. I have driven the truck for 26 miles and no lights.
