If one ever needs to disconnect air pump to stay out of limp mode here is the connector.

A lot of info about this issue in this other thread as well. Just for reference as there is good data and experiences in that thread as well.

Wow, I just came back from a week long vacation and saw the letter in the mail.
My first used date was 8/8/10 so two more years for me. Lol

Car threw a P2445 this morning with 4lo and CEL on. Car is in limp mode. I unplugged the air pump but it is still in limp mode, do I need to clear the code while it is unplugged to get out of limp mode? I need to get it to the dealer but I don't want to clear the code and then not have it pop back up when they reconnect it.

Worst case scenario, I can drive it in limp mode to the dealer, even though there is rush hour Houston traffic to contend with.

Yes the code has to be cleared to get out of Limp. From my experience and understanding you are not truly clearing the code, this requires a restore sent from a functional part with no problems to fully clear it. I think it was Hewitt Tech that told me this.

Unplugging it and clearing the code worked, it is now out of limp mode. Plugging it back in and driving it though didn't get the code to pop up again. I'm hoping that it will pop up after it sits and the car cools down a bit and/or that the dealer will still be able to see the code via TechStream. I used a SGII to check and clear the code.

Does this system run all the time at start up or it is only when the engine is cold? Gonna' take awhile to cool off in this Houston heat...

It only runs for about 15 seconds on a cold start. When I had the pump plugged iin I had to clear the code in the morning but never had a problem throughout the day.

I'll get it to the dealer and then unplug it.
Thanks!

I figure I'll have this happen to me at some point. I always keep a OBD Wifi unit in vehicle just in case.

I just started the car with the pump connected and it didn't throw a code. Hopefully it still shows up in the history or somehow they can view it. I had popped the cover off before and found the filter to be intact and pretty pliable. I had ordered the little external filter, but never put it on due to the OEM filter being in such good shape. Well, I just now popped the cover off and the filter is gone. I guess the whole thing got ingested. If I had known this would happen, I would have ran the mini filter in place of the OEM filter. The fact that it popped up this morning when I was already having a real lousy week is the icing on the cake.

Will update tomorrow after I get it to the dealer.

I'm not sure if the blade in the pump should be able to be turned by hand... mine did not turn at all in either direction.

Dropped it off at the dealer. If this ever happens to you, I highly recommend having your vehicle towed to the dealer, which should be covered since it will be a warranty repair. Trying to explain it to the service writer was difficult. Thankfully, the P2445 popped up again this morning on a cold start. I'm sure they are going to have to keep the car all day and try it tomorrow as it won't cool down enough during the day to trip it again. We will see. SW confirmed it would be a warranty repair, even though I didn't get one of the letters in the mail (or maybe I did, I don't remember). Anyways, I got a brand new RX350 to tool around in in the meantime. Hopefully they refresh the GX soon... the interior feels so dated compared to the RX.

Service advisor just called and stated that my GX460 is fixed, all under warranty. Won't get it picked up until tomorrow morning at which time I'll see exactly what was replaced. I think I'll swap over to the mini filter once I get it home though to hopefully prevent a failure in the future.

Cool, see if they filled the gas tank, some did and some (like me) did not get this perk.

For the airbag recall, I took it in on fumes and got a full tank. This time, it already had a full tank... Sigh.

Ahh, I forgot that was for a recall and this is a warranty deal so no fill up anyway.
