Oh...I've got it in a safe place. :-) If... or should I say "when" system fails I will go with the Hewitt-Tech like you did.
Your experiences with this failure has given everyone good info on temporary bypass of resetting codes and unplugging the air pump. I keep a cheap OBD reader (assuming my phone isn't with me) in rig to reset codes for the day and keep myself out of limp mode.
Bumping this up. Lexus recently did the 90k service to my 2010 and replaced the secondary air injection pump and filter housing under warranty while it was in the shop. The tech said that there is now an open recall and the unit doesn't have to have failed to be replaced.
I haven't seen any recall notices yet or any updated TSBs.
I wonder if this was a goodwill repair since you were paying for a 90K mile service and close to the 10 year cutoff on the secondary air warranty extension?

That could certainly be the case. However, the way he and his service manager talked about it made it seem like the notice is something they only recently had received and they didn't expect to do many of them. Mine was the first one they have done.

^ It didn't show up in my Lexus Drivers portal either. Might be worth asking around at your local Lexus service centers.
2012 GX460 Secondary Air Injection Warranty - Towing Exp.
The 4LO and engine light came on today and car slowed down. Took to Toyota dealership since no Lexus dealership around. They confirmed it was under secondary air injection warranty but had to be done at a Lexus dealership. Closest one is 160 miles away. Will Lexus pay for towing? Just checking before I do anything. Toyota will fix for @$1600 and I've read that Lexus will reimburse but that may take a long time. Just wondering about towing expense. Thanks
secondary air injection pump recall - limp mode afterward
I just bought a 2010 GX 460 base with 92k miles a few weeks ago. I got a pre-inspection done at a Toyota dealership and immediately had the secondary air injection pump recall performed at my local Lexus dealership. Within just a week it went into limp mode. I took it in and the following codes appeared: P0441, P0455, P0456. The dealership said it was not related to the recall service. Then - just yesterday - limp mode again. The service center was closed due to memorial day, so I just disconnected the negative terminal on the battery and reconnected it which did the trick.
I'm hoping this won't become an ongoing issue, but I have to think that it will since it has happened twice within the last couple weeks. Anyone else have any ideas/words of comfort?
