Hello,
Having same issues with 08 GX470...called Lexus and said my vin has no extended warranties or recalls. Does this letter only apply to certain vehicles?
Thanks
I've been having the same issue with my 2008 GX since December 2019 with the lights coming on in the dash (engine, & other lights). The code I got was P1445, which leads me to believe it is the secondary Air Injection Switching Valve bank 2. I've replaced the injection pump first & after a few days the check engine & other lights came on again; then I replaced the check valves & again the lights just came on again after 4 days. I'm going to re-scan the engine again this afternoon to see what codes come up, but I suspect it will be the same one's as the previous 2 times. I'm at a loss as to what the heck is the problem. I then did some research on line & ran across this thread of information & from what I can tell the solution may be to remove the filter & add the UNI filter. Is this the long term solution or do I need to replace the UNI filter on a yearly basis by checking how it looks. How is this new UNI filter working for everyone? I"m guessing there is no warranty for my GX since it is over 10 years old. Having said that, do I need to open up the engine again to look at all the parts for damage? This is crazy. Thanks for the info.
I can't speak for Lexus, but I've had a secondary injection issue with my bmw e46. The reason there was the rubber hose that got brittle and developed a vacuum leak. No surprise, really, since the air is injected into the exhaust, and rubber and heat cycles don't go together for long. Check your hoses for holes/cracks, will be my advice. FWIW
The JLG recall now showed up on CA smog renewal paper and must provide proof to get new sticker. Did anyone receive a certificate for this? I don’t remember if I got one from the dealer.
So I called the dealer asking about the recall and if the previous SAI work applied but after running the VIN, they said I have to bring it in. Scheduled for next week to get it check up and work done in order to get the certificate for DMV.
Just picked up the car from the dealer for the recall fix.
The parts replaced:
JLG Install Air Pump Repair Kit
1 04006-37138 KIT, Air Switching Valve
1 04008-3520C Repair Kit, Air Pump
When I got the P2442 code in 2018 and brought it in for the special campaign, the parts replaces were:
17610-0C040 AIR PUMP ASSEMBLY
04006-37138 KIT AIR SWITCHING VALVES
I looked at the paper work and they replaced the cap and new foam (part 04008-3520C). I forgot to put back the black cover for the cap when I removed the UNI filter before bring it in so they gave me a new one. It mentioned the valve was replaced but I didn't really see it on the passenger side. It looks like the old one that was replaced with P2442 code last time.
The only part that they replaced was the pump assembly on the driver side, but it wasn't in the part list. Picture attached here.
Free carwash and refilled the tank but no free coffee or fresh fruit due to Covid. They have water bottle and bars. Got a 2020 ES350 fully loaded for a day and it was a nice ride.
Your engine looks pretty dirty. Might want to consider washing her down. I recently did mine after an off-road adventure last weekend where engine bay got splashed with muddy water and was a little nasty. My technique.
Disconnect negative on the battery. With engine cold, use a pressure washer to give her a good sprsy. Obviously, don't go crazy with the pressure. 1500 or so. Spray down with simple green or similar cleaner. Don't let it dry before spray off the dirtiest parts and avoiding the electronics and alternator. Use compressed air to blow off any standing water or accumulation. Then let the engine dry in the hot sun for another hour before reconnecting the battery.
I recently had this recall done back in February. I've been getting intermittent codes being thrown P2441 since. Everytime I clear it, it comes back. Will the dealer be able to figure out why I'm getting codes or do I need to let the codes sit there until I take it into the dealer? Truck was fine until they touched the SAIP. Now the codes won't stop.

You will need to have the code (check engine light) on before you take it to them.
Otherwise our Gen-II kit is the one you would want: https://hewitt-tech.com/store/index....ct_detail&p=82
It is the recommended kit for any 2008 or newer and you would never have to deal with it again.
I'm glad to see that they've lowered the requirements on the warranty fix. I bought a 2012 with 70k mi in 2017 and had the problem within 6 months. That's before the tech bulletin was public, but the service rep at Lexus corporate guided me through the process. Also got a loaner for the duration.
in my case, they also replaced the pump because it had ingested some of the foam or something else and had chipped fan blade teeth. It was all no-charge. No problems since then. The pics of the air valves are somewhere earlier in this thread.
Side note: this is a problem with all secondary air systems in V8 2007-? Tundras and 2008-? Sequoias, too. I've never gotten a notice in the mail for my '08, but the dealer confirmed that the same air valves are used and he's done several warranty jobs over the last 4 years. The main difference I think is the air pump. Mine's a twin-pump system. They said I couldn't have it preemptively fixed. It had to exhibit the condition and error code first. I'll call back today to see of Toyota has changed their stance on that.

Other than at startup, is the SAIP used under any other driving condition?

2015 Luxury. I got codes P0441 and P0455 a couple of days ago. Some brief history...Had the fuel pump replaced with the recall 7/21, no issues. Filled the tank (8/3) and parked the car for >3 days. Started car 8/6 got the CEL (P0455, P0441). Got codes read and cleared. No issues until today (filled up the tank yesterday, first time to start this am and got the codes again). Same codes (P0455, P0441). I've ordered a new gas cap though I don't see any obvious issues with the cap.
Took it into the dealer, they replaced the SAIP, again. Got the vehicle back......throwing the same codes, again. Codes seem to spawn when there's a drastic change in temperature at start up. Vehicle never throws codes while driving, only at start up.
