Damage estimate jumped to $3500 today after they tore into it. I am supposed to get back Tuesday next week.

Installed a blind spot monitor, 4”. 😂

I also have a smaller one on the driver side too. They are also good for parallel parking to watch the curb since I don’t use the mirror tilt down feature.

What did I do to my GX? Well, I bought one to join the club. It's a brand new '19 premium with sport "tacky" package. LOL. We took advantage of the "December to Remember" deal.

Not today, but recently took all my door trim panels off for squeak remedy and to add some additional sound dampening... a couple items I noted throughout the process... the rear door side trim pieces are easy to break. Top part pulls off directly towards you if facing door. Side trim pieces will break unless you pull inward towards the glass... Learned that the hard way... If they're not pulling out then you have the wrong angle and will snap, they're really light friction fit tabs...

the good news is if you do end up breaking a side trim piece the top piece and large bottom piece end up holding it in place so it's not a crisis (they're more alignment tabs for the side trim) to get a replacement trim piece or tabs...

There were surprisingly a lot of empty holes just removing these 3 pieces that I covered to dampen road noise....

There were alot throughout the vehicle and she rides stealthy now, well worth the afternoon with some noico 150mil ccf and noico 80mil.sound dampening (dynamite essentially)

@nuclearn8 Did you add any foam to the open areas to further reduce noise? I remember people on another car forum recommending foam chunks.

@ObsidianBl I did not fill any voids with foam... I merely covered all unused openings with the product below. Where I adhered the noico dynamat to the inside of the exterior metal, painted surface I made sure not to create a horizontal (so if water gets inside the door panel it cannot sit there on the edge and corrode potentially and instead will drip off the edge with gravity). I also sprayed just a lil bit of fluid film inside the bottom of each door cavity while I had the panels off to prevent any possibility of them rusting from the inside out. (not needed in Texas but we may not always be in the south)

ccf from Amazon. I posted a link to YouTube video in a another recent thread complaining about a driver side door squeak with what else I did...

For someone who suffers from combat induced hearing loss, every little bit helps. Lexi is super quiet now.... Need to take an app recording at highway speed and post it here soon.

nuclearn8: I'll see if I can add those parts to parts thread. I almost broke mine as well in removing those pieces. Good tips.

On my damage repairs... cost went up because there was additional fender damage under the bumper cover and the bracket under the tail lamp was also broke.

Will do... I am keeping in constant contact with the repair shop. They are being pretty transparent so far.

I told them OEM parts and stressed I am very sensitive to paint matching because I have seen some really bad examples of Fire Agate Pearl repaired.

@nuclearn8 was your gx squeaking or did all of this as preventative-maintenance or increase sound insulation? I removed the trunk panels on my 4runner and broke one of them pulling in the wrong direction. Since then, I refuse to pull any panels unless I absolutely have to.

Previous owner of my '12 had put these on the mirrors. They do help a lot on the 10-13s which do not have BSM.

Only squeak I had was where I rested my left elbow on the driver door, then it all spiraled from there.... glad i did everything, it does make a difference even though the Lexus quieter than average in stock form. Panels come off easy and if you pull perpendicular to the plastic surface you"ll be fine regardless of the panel except the rear door side trim pieces which need to be pulled inward across the glass.surface towards the other side as noted above.

Yep, that's my poor mans blind spot monitor and always one of the first things I put on a car.

Yeah that color is complex. What are you driving now?
