Saw that and thank you. I ordered BudBuilt front and mid sections this morning in raw aluminum with the removable panels. BTW... I had to contact them as their website does not allow you to purchase just those two pieces. I was instructed to purchase the ones for the 470 (same price) and put a note on the order about having this for a 460. Bud stated their web guy will fix the site.
They/BudBuilt also have on their site a price increase coming in December on metal products. So... I'm now accumulating mods for a yet to be delivered truck
I've been looking at the RCI and bud-built skids and when you look at prices and features side by side:
RCI engine skid $325 + transmission $250 + transfer case $325 + Fuel tank $345 = $1245 - 15% off sale = $1058
The Budbuilt complete stage 2 protection is $1547
Both are black powder coated steel with oil filter and oil drain access as listed above (not looking at Al in this comparison). Budbuilt is 1/8" and RCI is 3/16", which gives RCI an advantage in terms of strength but not for weight.
Any reason why I should not save the $300 and go with Budbuilt instead of RCI? I also see that BB has significant lead times listed on their website (6-8 weeks plus 4 weeks to powder coat!) Vs RCI of 0-3 weeks.
RCI shipping to east coast $185, Budbuilt is local to me so that would save me shipping. So looking at $1243 RCI Vs $1547 Budbuilt

Budbuilt aluminum version was $1k over RCI for the full skid plates package so i went with RCI

Was about to pull the trigger on RCI but realized that they don't have an access panel for the GX, only for 4runner. Bummer. I'm partly justifying the cost of this upgrade with not having to remove armor for easier oil changes. Looks like Budbuilt may be my only option. Victory, Ironman, RCI don't have oil filter access. Other than BB, any other models have this?

This is what led me to BB. I've had many RCI skids on past Tacomas/4Rs... great workmanship. However, the ease of doing my own oil changes by removing two access panels was worth the additional costs. On the T4R BB has a great reputation and I'm sure I'll be very satisfied with my skids when they arrive.
I did not find another set of skids with the same access ports.

So LFD have the access port according to their website.
Since I only need a front skid right now, I may just go with them and then piecemeal the rest later as needed.
I like the Victory 4x4 sliders but hear that there have been reports (with pictures) that the leading edge of the sliders extend into the front wheel arch area... any word on if Victory has resolved this issue?
They are adjustable from front to rear. So if you position it that way, yes, they will be in the wheel arch, but otherwise, no, they do not extend into the wheel arch. It's a tight fit, but no, doesn't have to.
