Do the Metaltech sliders work well as a step? Just scuffed my running boards pretty good the other day and it's accelerated my plan for getting sliders, but I still want something that can be used as a step. The pictures make them looks like they stick out far enough, but didn't know if it was just the angle. Thanks! Your truck looks great!

After trimming your rocker panels did you use a black rubber trim to run along the cut line? That what YotaMasters did with mine after trimming them.
Something like this from McMaster-Carr: https://www.mcmaster.com/edge-trim

Check out RSG...they can most definitely be used as a good step from what I've read. They are at the top of my list once I get to that stage.

Not really, they are like a little stubby step. The back is easier with the bump out, but still got to pay attention when using it as a step. No where near as good as the factory steps and much more slippery. Could always add some grip tape, but then you risk someone dragging their leg down it getting out.

Regarding the MetalTech sliders, if the door is open, one gains a little more purchase for their foot and yes, as Nickk6 posted, the rear step does provide a wee bit more for stepping on.
Regarding slipping, yes they are slippery, and any sliders out there unless they have a track top type metal plating on top will be slippery.
I used 1" wide black track tape from my local hardware store. Just ran a strip along the entire length of the slider. My wife loves, being only 5'-1", she uses the slider as a step. At 6'-0", I don't need it for either entry nor exit, and I never catch my pant leg or when wearing shorts, rub my leg on the track tape since it's just on the top of the tubing.
The track tape does help 100% when I have to lash surfboards, skis or whatever to the rack and need to stand on them!

Still I wouldn't mind the sliders being another couple inches wider. Just saying, MetalTech, if you're reading this!

Default RSG sliders

I was thinking of getting some RSG sliders. What are tour thoughts on angled sliders vs straight ones. Btw, RSG is having a $100 off sliders at the moment.

Saw the last prototype pic today. Wish I could post but respectfully told them I will wait. Hopefully next week. It will certainly make oil changes easier. Something to consider if one changes their own oil even if they don't feel the need for aftermarket skid plates.

I'm looking forward to seeing this product. Agreed that if it makes oil changes easier, it could pay for itself after saving a few trips to the dealership (money and TIME). The thing that discourages me about DIY oil changes on the GX is the panel removal.

There will be a small access door for the oil filter and you might want to consider a Fumoto valve for the drain.

I had dropped off the C4 at a local powder coater business yesterday and then I started to look at hardware more closely and thought there was some mounting pieces missing.

Turns out this was for a non-KDSS 4R.

Quick call to powder coater this morning to cancel that job. Luckily they were there on Saturday.

C4 is sending me out the right one and I will ship back the 4R model with a pre-paid label.

Mistakes happen and I'm only out a little time but they are making it right so all is well in my mind.

I'm not sure which to get first, but RCI is pricey, C4 and BudBuilt seem readily available, ARBs are priced right but lightest and thinnest etc. Gas tank seems most important to start, and rear diff, maybe go the C4 route, not sure yet. I found some Intl sources, one is Israel, for 150s but not sure if they'd work.
