While it probably makes little difference the 75w90 is NOT the correct fluid.

the kit found at https://www.blauparts.com/lexus-gx46...hange-kit.html
Includes
RAVENOL Gear Oil MTF-3 75W for the TC
RAVENOL Gear Oil DGL 75w85 GL-5 LS for the differentials.

The TC oil is considerably less than the the Toyota branded. It appears to be the same as the Toyota brand one. I’m wondering if this is good to use as alternative
The differential fluid matches what Lexus/Toyota recommends.

The full kit and if you take free 7-10 shipping is only $160 and in stock. Finding the liquid gold Toyota fluid is $70-90 per can and harder to find in stock. And you will still need 5q of differential fluid sourced from another place.

Question Front/Rear Differential Fluid Change questions please

Hi! 2022 Lexus GX 460. I've been quoted $500 for a Full synthetic oil change and Mobile 1 Front and Rear Differential Fluid change plus standard torquing, chassis lubrication etc.

Question 1: Would you go for a non-OEM differential fluid ?
Question 2: How much did you pay for this service?
Question 3: Is going with Toyota's OEM differential fluid worth extra $220 ($720 total).

Where would you do this service other than the dealership? I am in Ventura County So Cal.

Many thanks in advance,
Mike

1/ F & R diff I'd be fine with any name brand fluid of the correct viscosity.
2/ I'd do it my self, but $500 seems pretty steep for a basic service.
3/ I'd do OEM for the transfer case, but not at that price for the diffs.

Sincerely appreciate your help. Can somebody confirm that this is the right part number for the differential fluid for the 2022 year: 08885-02506

Mobil-1 Delvac 75w-90 Full Synthetic for the Rear and Front Differentials ... and Ravenol 75w Gear Oil for the Transfer Case.

The quoted price above is highway robbery. Fluids are in the $100 range ... so $400 for labor ?????????

I figured the guy was robbing me, so I think I am going to get the right parts and do it myself or hire a mobile mechanic.

Is the right part number for the differential fluid for the 2022 year: 08885-02506 ? Kinda want to use OEM fluids if I do it myself.

What about the washers? Have the washers' part numbers stayed the same ?

According to the Lexus, differential fluids, front, rear, and center transfer case, are not due for 60K to 65K miles. Being 2022 of your GX, how many miles on the clock? I just had my 2014 GX serviced at Lexus, changed all the fluids, plus 75K services (since I didn’t do it during 65K service), cost me little less than $500. I am not very mechanically inclined myself, so paying to Lexus to do the job would be my choice, I know many on this board can do this on their own with much lesser in term of cost of materials and time involved.

I just go to the parts desk at the dealer and ask for the crush washers for the front, center and rear diffs. Maybe you can save $1.47 by going elsewhere but I like the convenience

Lexus recommends changing both Front and Rear differential oil for 2022 GX 460 if driven under heavy load condition which I have done multiple times. So, I am doing it at 20K.

Thank you, @Acrad . Is 08885-02506 still the right oil for 2022 ?

The Diffs are oil bath ... no filter other than the magnetic drain plug. After the initial 5-10,000 miles ... the oil has suspended metal particles from the new gears breaking in ... and constantly circulating. Best to change early to purge ... and then from there change based on load usage from that point forward.

For filling the diffs, I find the easy to squeeze packaging of Valvoline synthetic gear oil to be very convenient
