You should be able to reach them without taking stock skids off. I have not done the job since I added my Budbuilt skids... I may have to see if that is the case now.

Can confirm, no OEM skid removal needed to access the 6 zerks.

Ryobi had a deal about 1.5 months ago that had a nice battery powered grease gun. I missed out and was waiting for it to come around during Black Friday. Would make this job a lot easier.

I took the slide yoke zerk fitting off, as suggested by one of 4runner posts I saw (7mm socket). I didn't even slightly rock the car, some grease came out, just to make sure I didn't over-grease. By looking closer of zerk fitting nuts, feel like lexus did the grease work before.

Default U-Joint Grease (that is not Red) ?

I have used Mobil 1™ Synthetic Lithium Grease (NLGI No. 2) for the U-Joints on past Toyota 4-Runner's and more recently on a Lexus GX-470 and now a GX460. The last two tubes had major separation where the grease liquefied on the top of the tube, and had the consistency of plumbers putty further down the tube.

I will never use this grease again ... red everywhere ... runs down my arm when using the grease gun, drips on the driveway, gets on my clothes and would probably get on my dog if I had one. I spent over an hour cleaning my pneumatic grease gun of red liquid and slime ... and there is still red fluid seeping out when left overnight in a bucket.

So to my question: What high quality synthetic grease do you use that DOES NOT separate ?

PS: I use Mobil XHP 322 Mine Grease on the Slip Yoke.

Use M1 XHP Mine 322 for all the zerks. No issues.

I've been using Mystic JT6 for the past 30 years, ever since a cousin who worked offshore recommended it since they used it exclusively on the rigs.

It s, however, red.

I use the Mobil XHP 322 Mine Grease on the Slip Yokes but have been using this light brown grease from Germany on the u-joint/spiders.

It's long past the time that the legacy grease cartridge needs to be redesigned for the 21st Century ... leave it to the German's ... Thanks for the link !

So I completed this today. My question is about the front set of nipples. There are actually 2 there. On the driveshaft there is a niple I think feeds greese to the interior of the shaft. Not sure if that make sense. I attached my gun and attempted to fill but have no idea of it was filling. No indication. The 2nd nipple in the joint was obvious when I attached and injected. Same for the rear. Any advice on this? I pumped maybe 8 or 10 times but could not tell if it was doing anything.

Those slip yokes I only do 8-10 as well. You are fine and reportedly do not want to over grease those.
