GX 460 Engine Bay Lights
I seem to be under my hood quite often and always have a flashlight in my mouth. I started thinking about installing a hood light and well...I got a little carried away
Took it to the pool/tennis parking lot and was thinking about playing some music for the video. A neighbor was having a party.
Installed LEDs https://www.superbrightleds.com/more...kit/2316/7375/ bought a few extentions for the far side of the engine and to have a disconnect for the silver cover.
Did another Add a Fuse in the main fuse box (have one for my dash cam).
Bought the hood switch on Amazon. Used an existing hole by the hood bumper, ruffed it up with a wire wheel. The hood switch works by completing a body ground when the hood is open so only one wire (LED ground) is needed. Drilled a hole in the front bay cover for the switch.
I put a LED strip under the front cover and had some light bleed-through so I painted it. Painted the middle groove with black paint and added factory GX emblems.
Basic junction box bought on Amazon.
Used the slot here to install the junction box that can be easily removed if needed.
Used the wing-nut to keep the junction box in place.
Ready to close it up.
Ran a LED strip to the hood.
Stripped and cleaned before.
I cut the front cover to show more of the engine bay. I wanted to use the front cover for the area in front of the radiator.
Many color options with a remote. I did install this to be functional, so keeping it on bright white
Spare parts.

Wow that looks so nice! I wish I can whip up something like this, it's pretty awesome. Meanwhile, I using this magnetic LEF light from Harbor Freight and just stick it to under the hood.
It's pretty bright though
