Default Front AVS shock absorber actuator same on both GX 460 & 470

I was just looking at aftermarket front AVS shocks and realized the front actuator isn't typically sold with the shock. The rear shocks have everything integrated.

This piece could be re-used with replacement.

PN: 8924160010

This actuator piece seems overall reliable and shocks end up leaking first or are removed for aftermarket lift or suspension.

This actuator is the same on both sides and is the same unit used on all GX 470s that all came stock with AVS.

How long have you had vehicle? What year?

Mine is noticeable especially when you contrast Sport versus Comfort mode.

It's harder to tell the difference if you are just switching it back and forth on the highway. Easiest way to tell is to find some of those speedhumps (softer version of the speedbumps) in a residential neighborhood. Hit it at a controlled 15mph in both modes and you will 100% feel the difference. My wife hates the Comfort around town because of the bounciness but we love it on the highway.

I've said this before but in the future someone is bound to pickup a '10-'13 base or '14+ Base/Premium that has been modded for crawl and may not realize the switchgear is not stock.

2010, got it 2 weeks ago. It's 100% stock (checked the VIN on the Lexus site). I'll try the speedbump challenge to see, thanks everyone!

Agreed. More noticeable with local driving with various road surface than on highway speed.

This is why I regret buying my base model GX. 22 inch wheels ride hard, I would like the option to choose settings if it would make a difference.

Default Removing front adjustable shocks for a lift

I am getting ready to install my lift with Radflo coilovers, rear shocks and UCAs. I am trying to find if there is a video reference of removing the stock adjustable shocks. Is there a trick to it? Can I remove the shocks without touching the electrical connector and mount above the shock post.

Did the same on a GX470 ... and just zip-tied the connector off to the side ... but did plug the mating connector (from the removed shock) into this connector ... and applied a heavy dose of dielectric grease in the event a future owner wanted to resurrect the stock setup.

Not quite sure why this owner had to drill a hole to get to one of the front shock mounting nuts.

I've never heard of anyone needing to do that.

... the dangers of YouTube instructional videos ... gotta filter out the "pointers" that are absolutely wrong and sometimes even dangerous.
