Got the GX back last week. The new NAVi version is C781 and Disc is 17.09.10. The map looks a bit differences and now have some updated POIs. The main streets are now in a but lighter beige color while the small side streets are in black make it a bit easier to see on the screen.

This is probably the only time I'd do the update.

Good to hear it worked out for you. I don't plan to update mine again. Hopefully the firmware update addresses issues you were having.

I could feel that it is a bit faster now. I have to wait until the weather is hot to see if the source would switch randomly or the volume changes.

I'm looking to purchase a 2011 GX, that had a radio replacement last year - per the service records. How do I check for the firmware or nav/maps update versioning?

Acrad, I noticed after you had your Nav updated, you did not say how much it cost you... Lexus or 'Yota Dealer? I'm about to take it in for a brake job (there is a nasty issue with my anti-lock brake system... several times I've had to "slam on the brakes" and the ABS will nearly throw your keester thru the dash! The vehicle lurches during this as if the ABS goes from full on lock to none every half-second. I know - WTH?! Right?)

I may have them perform my 1-time in my lifetime firmware & NAV map update at the same time so that I get double work out of the hourly service fee!

What what that TSB #? again... {CRUD ignore that, I just looked back and it's on the #1 post. I'll print it off and take with me.}

Thank you in advance and mucho avacados!

I had it done at a Lexus dealer. Not sure if a Toyota dealer can or will do it

They will apply the firmware before the map update is applied so you could just ask for a map update.

Looking back in my email it cost me around $250 out the door.

I checked my Nav software rev and its up to date (C781). However the disc is v 14.09.10 (newer ones are 17.xx). Is the "disc" just a DVD that one can just buy and replace, or is that the $200+ service that only the stealers can do?

If its just the DVD that you can buy on ebay or amazon for $20, where is that DVD drive?

Also, has anybody noticed that the travel time that the navigation system estimates Is about twice as long as what Google maps in your cell phone calculates?

This is a dealer only service as maps are updated via the Firewire 800 port near the accelerator pedal and not the DVD drive.

My ETA times are within minutes of Waze on mine.

Interesting project here.

I see you have a 2011 so you can adjust this.

Default Navigation map update

I am trying to upgrade the maps for the navigation unit on my 2013 gx460. Does anyone know where I can get these map updates cheaply? I saw many in Ebay but so far no mention on this vehicle.

It’s dealer update only, around $300 or so and doesn’t really update much.

The head unit firmware update might be of more value than the maps.

Default Media update for 2011 GX 460

I have a 2011 GX460, and the bluetooth interface has either developed a glitch, or is no longer able to connect fully with newer iPhones (mine is an XR). It connected correctly with my earlier model phone. The telephone function is connected, but when I try to play music through the Bluetooth setting, I see the "portable player not connected" message. When I try to connect, I get another error message "Bluetooth connection failed. Please verify the portable player settings".
If I uninstall and reinstall the phone using the code that is provided, I get right back to the same place, telephone works, music doesn't.
The Lexus website only offers updates for 2014 and newer models. When I inquired at a Lexus dealership, I was told to "check the Toyota website for updates", which is neither helpful nor true. The Toyota website only offers updates for Toyota and Scion models.
Has anyone here successfully updated their media firmware on a similar year model Lexus? A map update would be nice as well.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
