Only thing I have notice is some slower iPhone music listings but I haven't seen anything else. I do plan to give it one nav update later this year and call it good on that.
The last time this was posted I went to the dealer and was given a quote for $298 to have it done. I opted to skip it, especially since I haven't seen anything posted about how big of a difference it makes.
Diagnostic: Hold INFO button down and toggle Headlight Switch ON/OFF 3x
Anyone with a premium should NOT toggle the headlight switch on/off. They should only toggle from auto to the parking light in a bright enough setting so that auto doesn't trigger the headlights. Quick cycling xenon bulbs can burn them out.
Edit: though apparently its worse with some bulbs/ballasts than other. Still, it's best to avoid unnecessarily flashing xenon bulbs.
That is a good tip if that works with AUTO but I've never burnt one out myself in 15 years. Undoubtedly shortened the life of one though. Fortunately HID bulbs are pretty cheap these days. Never lost a ballast. Here is a bad alarm design... I had a 2002 Maxima that flashed the D2S HIDs with the factory alarm instead of the halogen high beams
How much is the update in the US? Here up in Canada (Toronto to be exact) dealers want close to $500 CAD with tax included for it. $285 for the map and $145 for one hour of labor, plus 13% tax on top.
