I think the longer wait time was the key too. I remembered waited longer than 5 seconds before I turned it off.

Many of us need multiple times of reset to make it successful, I suspect its a timing issue with the cables we all have, how it communicated between software and vehicle, so take it slow and be patient.

coinball: Just to confirm... car is parked on flat spot with wheels straight ahead? You may need to explore the wire method hzhao suggested too.

EDIT: This post on using the wire method on 4Runner forum might help.

Not likely cause but I think one of the USB ports on my laptop is a little flakey.. might even be a physical connector issue. Anyway... I notice when I use TS on this port I have a higher incidence of a potential TS communication error than other ports. Maybe try that out as well.

It's in the garage, so technically, there's a 1% slope. I'm going to rest the frame on the lift arms today since that's plumb just to eliminate the variable. I'm crossing my fingers between that and the longer wait on the reset to do the trick.

If I have to get medieval and do the wire reset, so be it.

EDIT - this is the perfect situation for this Rambo 3 flashback:

IIRC the current slope shows up in the data list area of the ABS/Traction control area of TS.

If all else fails, I'll make a youtube video, so you guys can point out my incompetence.

You'll be fine. It is nice there is a backup option if all else fails with TS. A new reference video of steps performed would be good though. All other zero point videos are for the 4Rs and the FJs. I wish I had done one originally.

Every time I was doing a mod, always thought about to do a video. But with no one at side to do it for you, it is just become unpractical to do. There is always a level of concentration that you have to maintain without mess up something. In fact, I often couldn't remember to take the picture before I get everything put back. I guess I will keep my current job and forget about the idea of being a producer

Still no luck, here's the video on it:
Hopefully, I'm doing something obviously wrong.

I got the solid VSC light when I did mine too. Can’t remember exactly what I else I did beside wait longer before turn off the truck after exit. In the video, I didn’t see you turn the truck off. You can also try to turn off before click exit.
Also try pressing the cc on/off see if it helps too.
You can try version 12.xx see if it helps. I used version 12.00.127

You are awesome! All I needed to do was press the CC on/off button at the very end of the ABS test prior to exiting and all is good now.

Awesome. Glad it’s works now. I think pressing on/off button along with waiting longer did it for me but I wasn’t sure.
