Seem like all im hearing is resale values on the Pre-MY 20s just went up lol
This wiring change is nothing new for a TMC refresh, efficiency that only they can explain
Maybe all the CC/MTS mods done in this community had made Toyota realized need to shut down this back door to capture all the revenue from “Off-road package”

Could be, but wow, petty as they can get (i assume the pr statement would be we cant risk letting you modify our vehicle ecus).

Short Version:
Who knows to be honest, "reality is detached from reality" (sorry if that sounds off). Luxury with the off road is as rare of a bird as is a base with no options. I`d wager alot of dealers are going maybe going to play the invoice (91% of msrp)-4k at best. The lack of upgradeability is going to play little if any roll to new car buyers. Used market totally different story. I`d watch the trend pop up on ih8mud 150 forum in the next few months.
According to the price thread, dealers are really loving the "supply is limited, demand is high" story and ignoring the fact Lexus just went against the industry of mfgs who are pulling back on incentives due to reduced supply and offering 4k that we last saw back in 2018 summer. (Theres more in the long version, but it would just be huge tangent, and if you want to read it I can post on the 2020 price thread)
Just using list price as a reference, for 2020, you can only get Off-road package for Luxury. Assume no other options, with base listed at $53,000, Luxury with Off road ONLY will be $66,860 ($1,570 listed for Off-road pkg, but it is meaningless that you can only order with Luxury), so, without any ways to do the mods as we do prior 2020 model year, there is HUGE step up in $ (nearly $14,000) just to get CC/MTS capability. Understand there will be many other add-ons, but nothing to actually contribute to the off-road capability!

MY20s+ are on the avoid list for true offroaders then.
Just out of curiosity, since I'm new to the GX platform. Is their any big advantage of CC/MTS (off road package), if I don't have any plans of off-roading? Mostly, I use my GX to drive to forest roads and some light overlanding. But not really rock crawling. In the winter time, I'll be using it to get up to the mountain to snowboard, with winter tire set.
MTS works nicely in slippery conditions (snow, slushy road, ice etc...) Crawl could be helpful when ascending or descending a steep hills with snow or ice. Of course, you don't need them to drive in those conditions but they could help to provide a bit extra stability and tractions on slippery surfaces.
However, if you have to get the Luxury version and pay a lot more just to get CC/MTS then I don't think they are worth it. For pre-2020 year, it's a no brainer to install them with available parts.

I already have MY20 without ORP. So far, for what I need if for, it I haven't had any hard time. With that says, I'm questioning whether I should've gone with an ORP one. Haha.
What is the 'proper' way to end the crawl control? I find that when I hit the brakes it does all the vibrating and noises. is best way to just turn it off first then brake?
That is what I normally do. Just turn off and then brake.
From OM:
■Automatic system cancelation In the following situations, the system is canceled automatically: At that time, the buzzer will sound, the slip indicator turns off, and the Crawl Control indicator flashes. A notification will be displayed on the multi-information display for several seconds.
- When the shift lever is moved to P or N.
- When the four-wheel drive control switch is in H4.
- When the driver’s door is opened. When turning off Crawl Control while traveling, stop the vehicle before the Crawl Control indicator turns off, or drive extremely carefully
I have a 2020 and when I bought it I planed to add the CC and MTS as with other previous gens. I am disappointed that it's not really in the cards but I'm not heart broken. I really like the LED headlights other features on the 2020 and wouldn't have bought a 2019 knowing what I know today.
I personally do not think this is going to change desirability of 2020 vs 2019 in any world except CL and IH8 which wont be enough to effect overall values. Just my .02...

I just thought of something, when I was first researching this I saw videos of people in the Middle East dancing or walking outside of their vehicles in the desert after activating crawl control. I wonder how they did that if opening the drivers door disables it
