How well can you maneuver your GX when F/R diffs are locked?

If this can be made to work on '20+ just another blade on the swiss army knife of your vehicle's capabilities. Will it get you out of something your lockers can't? Probably not ...but I can't say it won't either.

What typical terrain do you plan to drive your GX in?
I should have started by saying that while I may be a GX newb, I have well over 2 decades of experience with wheeling rigs with f/r and center dif locks and know how to utilize them well. For the bulk of the time, a front locker is usually not necessary when wheeling off-road in terrain where you lift a tyre - momentum can do wonders...usually. At some point, the new GX will become our more cushy overlander and working to prep my build list to make it a very capable vehicle. At the moment, we wheel with our '95 LR Defender 90 which is quite capable off-road...but it will be my son's in a few years. Gotta prep for the future!!!

Appreciate the input and agree - good to have some extra items in the swiss army knife!!!

In other forums when added most give more use to MTS than Crawl. On 10-19 you can do MTS, Crawl or both... at this point it appears it will be all or nothing for 20+

MTS is basically the Toyota version of LR Terrain Response (I think that is what they call it).

That LR you have is one tough rig.

Thanks man, seems pretty close to the same functions I had in my LR3/Disco 3. We replaced that beast with the GX. I did not baby that LR either

Encouraged by the ability of the LC Prado, the 'yota dependability...gave up chasing the new Defender to go GX. The MTS and CC sound interesting for mods - just need to weigh the costs for each addition vs the locker scenario. I think I know which way I am leaning at the moment.

I think the color of the part# that I bought is gray. My switch color is black. I never really noticed it because I rarely look at the switches. Once it arrives, I'll try it out anyways. Color won't have any affect on the function but it will look out of place. haha

Acrad, do you know if the paper clips placement on the 2020 is same as 2019? It looks like from Velk's video that it's the last two pins (1 top , 1 bottom) for the 2019. Hopefully the ZPC process is the same way.

*cross fingers*

the switch should be here on Thursday.

Take a look back on post 1135.

These are '20+ instructions for a ZPC... may need to zoom in. I will try to get a better copy.

Thanks... I'll wait for a clearer copy. I can't make out if there's a non-techstream way.

Not saying the paper clip method won't work but FSM only shows using Techstream now.

So I checked my OBDII port wiring and it's the same as the non-luxury 2020, like the guy from Ih8 has.
https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/460...#post-13118044

here's mine.

This means that the paper clip method that was previously available, is not the same method for 2020 or not possible (which sucks).

Does anyone have a wire diagram for 2020 to see if something I can do paper clip jump? I don't have techstream so that would be out of the question, when my switch arrives.

However, if it recognize it, by me just plugging the switch (since I have all the wires for skid control), that would be ideal. But I doubt it.

Acrad, thanks for your PM. I guess is just plug it. If it doesn't work, I'll try acquiring TS later. It's definitely work in progress.

Does anyone know if this is a legit site for Techstream software?

Sorry for all the noob questions.

Sorry for all the noob questions.

Start here: https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/how...034923/page-32 (acrad, who you have already been working with, is pretty active on this thread as of late)
Which brings you here: http://blog.obdii365.com/?s=Techstream+download
Version 12.2, acrad please correct me if I am wrong, is a common version as there are readily available virtual machines already configured, OS, program, drivers, etc., and makes getting started very trivial. Newer versions remove some of the vehicle customization capabilities.

You will need to buy an adaptor to communicate, the unit's linked in the thread are no longer for sale.
This This
seems to be a common replacement, but I cannot personally vouch for it.

I have an old Windows laptop with v12 setup but did test the VM there a year or so ago.

That is probably the easiest way to try getting it to work first and some may not want to dedicate a device to a TS install.
