MOD: Crawl Control (CC) and Multi Terrain Select (MTS)
#1262
I don't have crawl control in my GX, but I did have it in my Tacoma, and it was just like that, felt like the truck was trying to rip itself apart, lol, I'd say its very normal, and as others have said, take it to the dirt or snow.

Looks like the assembly can be unclipped and broken down to three individual components. I'm curious if the harness connectors/pins are different between the two switch assemblies. I'd still mean buying a new switch (and having to deal with an adjustable suspension button that does nothing), but it looks like we're heading in the right direction. I still have a feeling that the MY20/21 will have to be figured out first by a riskier member or two, though.

I believe 2022 Luxury requires the following to add MTS/CC.
1 55936-60030 SWITCH, CTR CLUSTER $179.87
1 47217-60690 SOLENOID, Master CYL $886.07
2 89413-0C011 SENSOR, TRANSMISSION $111.72
1 55936-60030 SWITCH, CTR CLUSTER $179.87
1 47217-60690 SOLENOID, Master CYL $886.07
2 89413-0C011 SENSOR, TRANSMISSION $111.72

Wiring will be another item that will need to be confirmed.
As you probably saw in this thread and on Mud there were areas wires weren’t run and pin-outs on skid control ECU on ‘20-‘21 models that would need to be re-pinned to different terminals between equipped and non-equipped trims.

I wonder how many people use the MTS after they install. Is MTS just a more adjustable version of the core TRC/VSC? OR is it more the idea of the GX essentially having a capability but not being able to access it as the main reason to add the MTS mod - which I understand is as a good a reason as any.

MTS is more or less variable ratio A-TRAC as default is around ROCK mode.
This is just something I heard but on the '14 FJ with MTS I thought I remember discussion that models with MTS had a stronger mode on ROCK than the default ATRAC mode in non-equipped models. Take that with a grain of salt without real world comparison tests.
MTS ABS
Video overview
MTS Is cheapest to add to 10-13 models as they used the same ECU that 10-13 Prados utilized. 14-19 used it's own version.

$138.95 as of today + around $10 shipping

For example, with lockers in the 80 series there is a different main harness for vehicles with lockers and another one for without. I don't see that the with the 2022 GX460 with Luxury and without or with ORP and without. There is separate one for the multi view and panoramic cameras. .
But also realize we only have access to incomplete information. But, at some point I'm gonna bite the bullet and buy the above parts and give it a shot.

Will be following with interest, as this mod is also on my list, but not a priority so all your work will be greatly appreciated by many on this forum

@Cruiser804 You may want to take out a short subscription to TIS and obtain wiring diagrams as well for ‘22+

Wow, that is cheap - less than the price of two fill ups of the gas tank. If I had any mechanical/electrical abilities I would prob just add it even if I hardly if ever used it. But the real cost for someone like me is in the install - I would prob just break all the trim as I removed it and/or short something electrical.

Any 2020-2021 Luxury owners without "Off-Road" package open to some vehicle experimentation?
• 22 owners... need to confirm '20-'21 first. PNs still aren't clear for the dash as of 1.30.22.
•••This is all at your own risk and potentially could require even more work, parts, and money.
Vlad at post #403 bought the switch for his '21 Luxury and like eNx (here at ClubLexus) discovered it didn't work either but wiring is there.

It really points to the Skid Control ECU as the next replacement step. At this point it will be easier to determine if this can be done on a Luxury because all of the wiring is apparently there. We can look at other trims once this config is confirmed.
Long story short I submitted two VINs for skid control ECUs to Bell Lexus
One for a '21 Premium and the other for a '21 Luxury with off-road package
Premium takes - 47217-60760
Luxury w/off-road package takes- 47217-60690
There are not any in US but perhaps Canada has some?
47217-60690 is a $1k ECU

One would also want to pick up that crawl control switch for 20-21 models

Haven't post in a very long time, since I moved and COVID years was basically a black void.
I think this will be for my next step, but at this point, I'll wait until my car is out of warranty. I'm hoping those parts will still be available in a year or two. I still have the switch that I bought so I'm only missing the Skid Control ECU, for now.
