Maybe it’s been said, but why are they summing the columns (months)?
pretty much every company looks at sales this way for trend analysis... YOY results... comparing the same month takes one variable out of the equation to help develop better strategy...
Interesting how the sales went up with the redesign of the Rx.
I'd be curious to see gas prices overlaid on the same graph... I doubt the RX has much to do with it... they're different vehicles in a different price ranges.
Not saying refresh didn't help but 10-13 models had to contend with higher fuel prices, recession at the time, fallout of the parts distribution issues caused by the tsunami in Japan, and a higher base price.
2011, 2012 and 2013 were horrible years for the GX, what happened?
Outside of demand effects due to the larger macro economy, base GX460 price dropped about $5k from 2013 to 2014. Of course the 2013 base was better equipped (power third row seats, leather, with option to upgrade to semi aniline etc.) and more like a well equipped '14+ premium, but maybe that lower entry price helped? Or maybe people just liked the new grill.

That lower entry price and high residuals make the the GX more appealing alternative to the RX when you compare the size of the 3rd gen RX to the 2nd gen GX.
People want the top of the line SUV but can’t afford the LX so they convince their husband to get the GX which in the base trim is fairly attractive price wise. North east ratio of women to men drivers is like 8:2.
Out of those automakers, Volvo posted the highest increase, selling 21.4% more vehicles in October 2020 compared to October 2019. Mazda and Lexus also posted high numbers of 16.5% and 15.3%, respectively. Kia (12.2%), Subaru (10.6%), Toyota (8.8%), and Hyundai (5.5%) posted good increases, as well.
According to Automotive News, these automakers all posted gains because of demand for crossovers and light trucks. Toyota, for instance, posted its increase thanks to light-truck deliveries that increased by 14% this year. Combined deliveries of the Toyota Tacoma and Tundra increased by 22% in 2020. The RAV4 also did incredibly well, increasing by 8.6% last month. Despite having some of the older SUVs on the market, Lexus’ sales increased thanks to its light-truck sales from the UX, NX, and GX.
I wonder if some of the increase is people's demand shifting a bit to more RV ownership (so for towing) plus more outside road trip vacations? Edit: Plus very low gas prices.
