I think there are now 4 or 5 of us in my subdivision with a 2021/2022 GX. I've always noticed how many Lexus cars were in my area, but I had no idea how many GXes there were, let alone in my own subdivision, until I owned one. I'm not surprised at all anymore that it continues to sell well.

I spoke to the GM of the Lexus dealer I purchased my '21 GX last January, about 60 days ago to try to get insight on the "real" timeline for final model year of the current generation, and to see if he unequivocally knew if the replacement would be a BOF vehicle, and which engine would be used. Said he saw the next gen GX last year at the dealer show in Vegas. Will be BOF, with "some" version of the new turbo V6 that is used in the new Tundra. Didn't know at that time if it would be a twin turbo like the Tundra and the LX 600, or a single. I have since scoured the web searching for any definitive info, but all of the influencers at that time, sounded like they were scripted...i.e. nothing firm. More info may have leaked out since then.
While my concern over the BOF has been allayed, but IMO, the jury is still out on the turbo situation. As was well documented, Toyota had gotten an early batch of defective wastegates. In order to replace them on the Tundra, (I would expect a similar procedure with the LX and the new Sequioa) they had to lift the body off the frame to gain access!
So all of this agonizing over the current gen vs the next gen GX is driving my decision to either keep both my '16 and '21 GX's until the next gen arrives, OR trade them in on the very last of the current generation. I really wanted to get one new GX (current or next gen) and an LX, but there are NO new LX's available. (all are pre-sold so far) The ones I've seen advertised are either new, "in transit" or "used, L Certified". Interestingly, all of the L Certs had VERY low miles, some with as little as 500 miles. I assume they are being sold "used" so that Toyota doesn't jump on them for selling at ridiculous markups over sticker. I saw two advertised online for sale at a Milwaukee Lexus dealership, one for $206,900 and another for $179,200---"used". ..No thanks. While my dealer of choice does not sell above sticker, any of the very, very few LX's they have incoming, are sold. (This is a multi location Lexus dealer with stores in Ohio and Florida, so they definitely have the volume to attract Toyota's attention, but there are continuing supply chain issues limiting production.) I love the ride, comfort and V8 in the current gen LX, but between the goofy third row seat set up and the 12 mpg around town...

Interesting given supply issues. If it is true that Lexus dealerships are less likely sell at over MSRP (which I don't know is true, but there has been a few remarks here that seem to suggest that) than other dealership brands, and with the rise in used car prices, then the cost of a new GX, on average, would have gone down RELATIVE to the car market.
