Ha, I blacked out the reflectors with RUST-OLEUM Lens Tint while they were on the truck (lazy decision). I didn't like the results so I took them off and wet sanded one of them and then decided I will stop by the shop that recently painted my bumper and gate to ask about painting them the factory black.
totally agree with you. I know that we’re all free to do whatever with our cars but on a rig like this tails are for blinking not blinging.
Tail lights are a huge part of the rig in the looks department. Just like wheels/Tires/Grille/headlights. The clear ones are fuglier than F! They look identical to the 90’s IS300’s. Gross!
I don’t own a GX460 yet (had an IS350, and now GS350FS) but these tails are the main reason from making a purchase on some of the newer GX460’s. Hence what brought me to this post, researching tail light swap ideas and checking costs.
Looks like I won’t have to base the entire decision on a GX460 off the taillights, I’ll just tint them with red for $70.00. Glad I found this thread.
Oh wow, necropost. Though, since it's been resurrected, Tecman, if you're still watching, what's up with the dual exhausts? I have never seen that on a GX before.
New here and just recently acquired a 2015 GX460. Also not a fan of the clear tail lights and was wanting to purchase some red tail lights (10-13). Has anyone here done the swap and know if 2010-2013 taillights fit on a 2015? Or am I stuck finding 2017 sport designs for my 2015?
Wanted to go this route as opposed to a vinyl or paint job for longevity purposes.

It sounds like you will be safe with 10-13's on your '15. Further work would be needed on the socket and wiring if you had a '17+
I swapped my clear ones out for a set off a 2017 Sport model. Helluva lot better looking imo. Easy peasy swap, direct without any issues. My GX is a 2018. I heard there may be minor modding needed when swapping the 2010-13 Red Tails to the newer 2015+ GX's(I could be wrong though).
Oh the transitions and fads over time. Lexus goes clear tails on 2014 and people want it. Lexus goes to optional clear or red and now the red seems to be the preferred..

You are sooooo right! If it came with Red tails, people would be clamoring for the clears!

How much did it cost you to get the red taillights?
We have a 2017 sport / luxury model with the red taillights. Lease is up soon. I dont like the white taillights on the 2020. Think I am buying out the lease primarily due to the rear lighs!. Well that and it has really low miles and is in great shape.
